This right here is the core of the whole issue.  There is really nothing to show that they gain or lose a single subscriber if they release it at Day 45 or Day 90 where it will remain literally forever.

The core question is "What in the hell is the rush?"

I can tell you this, there is no evidence that streaming is impacted (over what is lost) by putting it on there after 45 days vs. 90 days or 120 days.

There is a mountain of evidence that actual billions have been lost by shoving them on streaming too early.  It cost the leadership of an entire company (Warner Bros.) their jobs and likely is going to cost the leadership of Disney their jobs as well.  I also would guess the leadership of Paramount+ is going to feel the heat very soon if the guy they brought in doesn' reverse course.  Lucky for him that Tom Cruise likely did him a favor and saved his job.

Well said. The studios are acting in a stupid manner and should be called out for it.

It's pretty rare at least in my recollection, is that a film is completely beloved by moving hours has a massive rotten tomatoes score and even has most people here loving it. I know there's lots of other films that can claim this but this movie just seems like it's being embraced by everybody. Old fogies like me are loving it my 12-year-old niece adored it and the 20 and 30-year-olds are loving it as well. It's awesome to see how this movie has just allowed everyone to just fall over with it.

Baumer! You're alive. Good to see you posting.

I needed like a month to recover from that.

But in hindsight, my meltdown at that time was a bit silly. I loved the movie, ive seen it like 50 times since it came out and we still got a quasi-sequel with Godzilla vs Kong. This is still the best timeline for Godzilla fans.

But im honest 350M for DOM would mean Meltdown and im serious that number would be so low regarding the massive inflation that occured since 2018, i woudnt survive that without mental damage :sadfleck:

Even with this case verdict, Depp already said he has no interest in working with Disney again, so at this point, any prospective sequel with him involved is pretty much dead in the water.

Do you really not know how negotiations work? He says he will never do it again it means that he can get more when it comes to them making an offer.

Yep and POTC is past expiration day. POTC 6 is gonna flop no matter who stars in it. The franchise is run into the ground. There's nothing more to say. They should have stoped after the third movie. It was Gore Verbinski's baby. No one else got it right.

Agree with everything you said except it being a flop. I think it would make substantial money IF Bloom/Knightley returned and they focused on them. They could even make them have a daughter/son and make Sparrow the supporting character IF they really wanted to save it.

Also the notion that Hollywood is above employing people with less than stellar backgrounds is patently false. The propaganda machine knows no end. Tom Cruise actively and openly bankrolls an organisation that is recorded to keep people as slaves - you really think they won't welcome Depp back with open arms? Don't be naïve.

At this point, these sky-high ticket prices will scare away many people from watching movies in theaters. And in many other cases, it will make people choose now between the movie(s) they can afford to see in a month. Could be that Top Gun breaking out so much will cause Dominion to suffer because of it and then Lightyear could suffer from the family crowd maybe choosing between it and Dominion.

We're already seeing a consumer collapse  - look at Amazon's latest results as one major indicator. We'll see higher peaks, lower troughs.

    The stage is set.
