  1. I know it kids movies, but SLOP2 is going to lose about 50% of the originals gross, that means kids are rejecting them or their parents are rejecting them for them. Which translates to unmemorable characters that are good for one time and not more. That's why I would like for them to focus more on originals and not sequels as quickly as they are doing. SLOP franchise might be dead after this and that's concerning for them if they plan to do sequels for every original movie they produce.
  2. They are nothing like DWA. DWA will give you complex characters that you come to care for more than a movie after and they become memorable characters, but Illuminations characters are bland (lacking something like flavor or personality) and boring (something that is uninteresting, like an object or a place). So they will suffer quick death soon.
  3. 4,700,000 67.5% = $7,872,500 7,872,500 54.5% = $12,163,013 12,163,013 -22.5% = $9,426,335 Very optimistic 3rd weekend gross for Aladdin = $29,461,847
  4. OUATIH doesn't look like the flick that does 200m on a summer schedule. Maybe if they released it in the holiday period. Joker is October, right? So the next almost sure fire 200m is IT 2.
  5. So no other studie in this summer will reach 200m outside of disney or tied to disney? We have to wait for september for the next possible meltdown of a movie underperforming from the original.
  6. So is IT 2 the next possible 200m grosser that is not tied to disney? That's really disappointing for this year.
  7. The point is baumer, that they are good at selling their originals. We need them to stick to that instead of the many sequels they have released and have planed out for the next coming years. Other than Despicable Me 2, none of their sequels look likely to top their originals, which point to a downward path. I don't know if they are running out of ideas, but they are churning out the sequel rather quickly.
  8. I am going to find a post I made a quite a while ago predicting IT2, Pets2 and Jumanji 2 doing considerably less than their originals. When they do say lightning doesn't strike twice in the same position, they really mean these movies.
  9. I am so happy that Pixar is focusing more on originals even though I still liked their sequels, I don't want the 3 biggest Animation studios to all focus on sequels as we have enough of those on the live action front. While Pixar is going back to originals Illumination will still keep drilling sequels.
  10. Also you can't/don't really care that much for their characters other than Gru for a sequel to be in demand. In pixar or DWA you are invested in their characters.
  11. Also Illumination have 2 more sequels on their plate for release in the next 2 years with Sing 2 and Minions 2. They really need fresh idea and they are good at selling new movies instead of sequels, why don't they just stick to that instead of all their future releases been sequels.
  12. The LEGO Batman Movie Warner Bros. FRI, 02/10/2017 5PM THU $2.200 M $14.493 M 6.588 $53.003 M 24.092 The Lego Batman Movie recently did 2.2m previews for a 12.3m true friday.
  13. Disappointing weekend around the corner, except for Aladdin.
