FF6 is the 6th installment of a popular franchise. It's always gonna be more frontloaded than the first installment of a SURPRISE HIT franchise that came out of nowhere. Iron Man opened big but beyond that, it's potential was pretty much limitless. Mass appeal, first installment, something new (Iron Man has never been done before, recently anyway), combined with great WOM etccc. Come back to me when Iron Man 6 has good WOM (or even Iron Man 4), then we can start comparing second weekend drops.

I know you are kidding but comparing each movie's WOM is one thing, but comparing their boxoffice runs to gauge WOM is another. Two totally different situations.

When someone starts comparing Iron Man 1 to FF6, that's when you know the discussion is done.

We have to remember that to most people this is still technically the 6th installment. People who haven't seen the previous films might not be as inclined to go see FF6, despite good WOM. This will always be extremely frontloaded and will always have a limited audience.

Exactly. You can better gauge WOM EARLY ON by looking at social media rather than the second day drop, that was his point. If my friend goes sees a movie friday night, tells me it's good saturday morning, im not gonna drop all my plans to see it that very night. However, like he said, the TRUE test will come next weekend.

I know this isn't a documentary but I was just curious as to how historically accurate this movie is? I've been reading a lot of articles that claim the movie really downplays Canada and Taylor's role in the whole "rescue mission". I'm not trying to take anything away from the movie, I haven't even seen it, I'm just genuinely curious.
