Marcus Theaters have discount Tuesday's in the Midwest.
All seats are $5.00, even reserved UltraScreen.

If anything the subtitle brings out the Dudebros.
Chloe Grace Moretz does not bring out the Dudebros, lol.

This plus comedy sequels are always awful and pointless.
Don't think the title mattered, but reviews heralding feminist themes and pro gay-marriage bit may have turned some off who enjoyed the first film.
I kind of liked Neighbors and would have gone to see this if I hadn't read the reviews. No idea why they felt the need to make an PC, SJW Tumblr version of the first film.

The Jailbait ads didn't work by the looks of it
Probably because most of those girls weren't that attractive. Nobody tries harder than Chloe Grace Moretz to become a star. Now, she's even dating David Beckham's son, which will get her a ton of press and photo-ops.
-
Critics seem to like it because it offers liberal "social commentary" with pro-gay marriage statements and a ton of pro-feminist scenes. I was going to see this until those reviews made it seem like some annoying Huffington Post article come to life.
I'll just wait for it to hit HBO next year. Always nice to hear Rose Byrne's real accent.

Then again I also blame the marketing team. They shouldve never put Doomsday in that trailer or had that long scene with goofy Lex in the trailer either. THAT is what killed the buzz. Before that this movie could've hit 200m on OW. EVERYONE wanted to see the movie after the comic con trailer.
Joss Whedon said right before the first Avengers released that the first weekend is the marketer's job. The 2nd and subsequent weekends are his job.
Wasted potential.
Agree completely. You could tell immediately that Eisenberg was miscast and got Lex Luthor completely wrong and Doomsday looked like a cartoon.

I may not have liked MJ1 but at least it had a coherent plot. BvS can't say the same.
Does a movie that generates this much discussion/argument bomb?
As massively screwed up as BvS is at times, it is still 100% more entertaining than MJ1. There was nothing interesting about MJ1. In BvS, even when it's bad, it has your attention and makes you wonder, "what is Eisenberg doing? Who is Eisenberg playing, it's not Lex Luthor" "Why is Holly Hunter in this movie?" "What's with these dream sequences," etc.
MJ1 is just a dull slog to sit through.
-
It's possible the movie will do better than expected because it is so divisive that people will be curious to make up their own mind.
I thought the violent Batman was fantastic. I also thought the Holly Hunter scenes were dreadfully bad and should have been cut and Eisenberg was so awful that it took me out of the movie in every one of his scenes and I was thinking, instead, about the acting choices he was making. Gal Gadot had the Wonder Woman look down pat but she also struggled at times just to get a line out properly due to her accent.
-
A "B" is probably what I would have given it, too. I enjoyed it for the most part but hated Eisenberg's Luthor with a passion.
-
I'm sorry but if you call the movie "Cloverfield," the general public has every right to expect a giant monster (not just an angry John Goodman) and will be rightfully pissed off if the movie is a "character study" or some other BS.

The Boy wasn't bad at all.
It's always nice to have low expectations and be pleasantly surprised.

Very few people want to see a PC lecture on patriarchy, much less the audience attending a horror film.

Decent number for the Witch, bad Cinema score but I don't go by that anyway. I will bee seeing it in about an hour so hopefully I like it enough
Good number for Deadpool, I guess X keeps on giving it to us
Is the dialogue in The Witch hard to understand?
I was told that a few people asked for their money back at my theater because they couldn't figure out what was being said.

Was really looking forward to seeing this, but read the article on it in USA Today and the director basically says it's a hammer-to-the-head unsubtle feminist rant. That took away all my enthusiasm and I'll wait to catch it on cable or torrent it if it leaks.

God felt sorry for Ryan Reynolds box office performance as GREEN LANTERN and felt he deserved a hit I suppose and DEADPOOL is it... I still say Ryan Reynolds Best movie is "Just Friends".. Never make a sequel to that EVER..
Just Friends is one of those movies that's always fun to watch when you come across it on cable.
Always thought Amy Smart would end up a bit of a bigger star than she turned out to be.

Nice to see The Boy doing well.
When I left the theater, I heard reactions like "that wasn't bad at all" and "that was actually pretty good." After seeing a really disappointing horror film like Sinister 2, it's nice to see something that's better than expected.

Its kind of weird, but Moretz seems like she should be a much bigger deal than she is, she gets a lot of press coverage and gets cast in high profile parts all the time but hasn't had that big box office breakthrough yet.
Thought Chloe Grace Moretz was good in the first Kick Ass, but since then, there's always seemed to be something odd about her.
Maybe it's her unbelievably creepy hanger-on brother....

So MJ2 will end up considerably behind Breaking Dawn pt 2?

How is a guy as dorky looking as Adam Driver a star?
Any guy could be pulled off the street and have the same quality of looks and same acting ability.

Guys are going to be shocked when Carol gets 10 Oscar nominations and wins for Best Picture this year. And no I am not kidding. The Weinstein will find a way to make sure that this wins again this year. If they could make Shakespeare in Love and the artist Best Picture winners they can certainly do it for Carol which is a much much better film than those two.
Ratings will be dismal if it looks like a big night for Carol, a film the public could not care less about.
I've seen most of the films that will probably be nominated and really don't have a clear favorite. Nothing stands out this year, imo. I guess Fury Road would get my vote. Spotlight checks the "socially important" boxes but it looked like an HBO tv movie. Carol is as PC as it gets, so maybe that wins.

carol would actually deserve to win so there's no way it will.
Carol was made to be Oscar bait. You can feel the actors thinking, "oooh, we're so important and we're making such an important film." The whole thing was so pretentious and distant.
Movie did look great, though.
I'd give Best Actress to Saorise Ronan. Really nice, natural performance, without the "look at me, I'm acting" melodramatic face-making that was the entirety of both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in Carol.

Was really good until they introduced Bughuul.
I really enjoyed the home movies and the creepy score. Enjoyed Sinister more than something like The Conjuring.

Well it's not exactly good for her combined with MJ2's underperformance. Luckily for her, she has two movies this year that are likely to be big hits regardless of her star power.
Maybe JLaw's XXX pics and vids did have an impact. Add in her recent very partisan, polarizing political remarks and it wouldn't be a surprise if her fanbase has thinned a bit.
MEH-MORIAL DAY WEEKEND BOX OFFICE | Abandon all hope, the box office is dead. 3 day weekend #s X-Men 65M, Alice 28.1M, Angry Birds 18.7M, Civil War 15.1M, Neighbors 9.1M. Bad openings, horrible holdovers.

I'm usually not happy when films bomb, but if Apocalypse tanking keeps Olivia Munn's ego from getting any larger, it's a good thing.
That woman shit on too many people who helped her early on.
