Tarantino's feud with the cops could have had an impact on the box office, as well. He kept pushing it in interviews so it never really could completely fade away.
And I doubt WOM was that strong. I thought the film was OK, but wouldn't have any desire to see it again.

Thought Carol was positively awful. Nothing but pretentious Oscar-bait. Oooooh, let's spend a few hours watching Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara make melodramatic faces at each other.
I do agree that the technical aspects were mostly terrific.

Was thinking of seeing Krampus, but am not a huge fan of a ton of comedy mixed with horror.
