You are cool and we can respectfully disagree, like with pretty much anyone here.

The difference is that Avatar didn’t had a quasi sequel in the shape of Far From Home to help it boost it, neither the Summer days to soften its drops. Endgame will easily end up making more than $10m from now until the end of July in the domestic market, a feat that Avatar wasn’t able to. The stagged re-release overseas will grant the reminiscent numbers it will need to overtake Avatar. I expect it to happen still during July, or ironically, around the time that Avatar had its re-release in August.

Thanks, you too. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing lol. We all just have to remember to be respectful. We will have to see, but the home video release won't heighten its chances. Will definitely be interesting. We can agree that we won't see runs like this anytime soon unless Disney can garner enough interest in Avatar 2.

Dude... you are always veering to trolling around these parts. Anyone with basic knowledge of box office numbers will tell you it’s possible, go bother someone else. Don’t expect other reply from me ever.

Why can't we all have a discussion without saying another poster is trolling if they have a different opinion. Come on, you seem like a reasonable guy.

Something interesting that was just brought to my attention:

    Endgame re-release first weekend:

    Domestic: $5.54M International: $2.3M

    Avatar: Special Edition opening weekend:

    Domestic: $4M International: $1.4M

It will be interesting to track Avengers: Endgame keeping a close watch to this:

The difference is Avatar was about a year later. This is like an event that's ending soon. I mean it's going to be out of theaters by the end of July. People are going back for a few scenes, once those are outted, it's going back on track its pre rerelease numbers. Just my thoughts.

I may be biased like everyone else, but at least I am here consistently and don’t pop up in Endgame threads only when it is not performing super well or getting desirable numbers. I don’t invade other threads to spew negativity about other movies. I’m not being toxic, I’m just annoyed by people popping up at convenient times to state the same opinion we’ve heard 1,000 times that tries to knock Endgame and its chances down a peg. The fact that I only recognize you because you pop up in every Endgame-related thread to say something negative tells me you are not here to actually talk about the movie and its run.

Well I'll be honest. I don't feel Endgame deserves to beat Avatar. I felt Avatar was art, Endgame while good is the usual super hero movie to me. I am talking about the movies run. The drops next week isn't going to be 50 percent like it's been. Will drop way more people fans that saw the scene will have seen it already.

Just leave the thread if you are going to say a bunch of biased crap. Endgame has sold many more tickets worldwide. Exchange rates of Avatar plus 3D tickets negate the inflation, and I’m sure three months ago you would have said the 22-movie hype would hurt the gross due to being too much homework for audiences. Movie DLC on a MUCH smaller scale than Avatar’s. The fact that you put "lol" after every comment shows your are here to stir the pot.

And you're not biased? Why do I have to leave the thread because you don't like my opinion? Nothing wrong with disagreeing lol, no need to be toxic. No, that's just my typing style.

Disney is obviously ensuring it does.

How can they ensure anything though. It all comes down to demand. This release is a cash grab, not a full blown new theatrical run. This means drops will be huge because most people that really want to see new scenes will have seen them. Not to mention some people will just go to YouTube.

I was hoping for higher numbers, but this is still good and can help it get there in the long run. The actuals could shoot up like last weekend, and this new version is staggered in many countries. I expect this and a Far From Home boost to work together, giving boosted numbers, especially domestically. Either way, I’m on this train until it derails and explodes. Even then my charred body will get out and try to keep pushing it along. It is so close, I won’t give up on the hope that it gets there! Avatar’s number is set in stone, while Endgame’s is still in motion. It will probably be around $25 million away after actuals. That is ridiculously close, so it is foolish to say it’s over, especially when many things could still go right with it and Far From Home. Disney is not going to let it fall $10 million short. That may even lead to some bad publicity and mocking. Do a true re-release with substantial footage, and bring it back to IMAX and other premium formats for a little bit. And do whatever it takes to get a re-release in China, though I doubt that will happen. There is also an off chance some unaccounted for money gets added late in the run. I will keep the dream going, there’s just too many possibilities to consider. Remember when we said $2.750 billion would be a challenge?

I thought Endgame was awesome but geez, mcu fans are determined lol. The movie is coming to video soon. It's theatrical run is just about over.

Pretty sure Avatar will get another re-release as well to prepare for the 2nd movie. Will allow them to gather all the market in China that wasn't there in 2009.Wouldn't bad talk a 3rd re-release as Endgame may need it to beat Avatars record. Only die hards are going to sit through a 3 hour movie again for 6 minutes of content lol. Plus this movie is pairing with FFH, very non organic but hey whatever it takes I guess.

I have no idea, but the stars seem to be aligning for it to be a big one based on the current data. $30 million worldwide on the high end? I may be totally out there, but Pulse and that Russia pre-sale data all make me think this will be much bigger than expected. I could see $10M+ from domestic alone. Maybe it ends up being $10M from all territories this weekend and I’m being super optimistic. But I would not be shocked if it was quite a bit higher. It passing Avatar this weekend would be nuts, but I don’t think it is at all undoable. However, that is not at all the expectation for this weekend, merely an optimistic possibility.

You're being way too optimistic. Never know though, Marvel die hards seem to have a lot of time on their hands these days watching this 10 times lol.

Just like I figured. Endgame fucking pummeled Avatar worldwide, and it wasn’t even close. Avatar should be thanking its lucky stars for inflated 3D and great exchange rates for being number 1. Lollerskates.

I'm confused, ticket prices were much lower back then. Are we trying to pretend no one watched endgame in 3D? Not to mention the China expansion, bigger fan following, and huge opening weekend? I mean Avatar made just 77 million domestic and kept making money through word of mouth as a new IP lol.

I can see the comedy in it lmao. It's just that I don't see a need for gloating (not you) from the MCU fans considering it basically took movie dlc and a socal media campaign to have a shot at getting the number one record. Top that with a 20 movie backstory, 10 years of inflation, and much larger international footprint and Endgames haul doesn't seem that impressive even if it did beat Avatar. Just saying the fans should win with class is all. At least Avatars record was organic.

Youre funny. Cameron-Stans are going to use the whole inflation argument to ‘defend’ Endgame annihilating it at the box office. Endgame is going to hit the top 10-15 all time adjusted for inflation, in an era where there is a lot more piracy, a lot more competition, and in an era of movies coming quicker to streaming services.

Different times HAS to be taken into consideration. Not just inflation. Growing up in the 90’s, movie industry was so much more different than now!

The beautiful thing about Avatar is that it was an out of nowhere new IP. It opened up to just 70 opening weekend, wasn't part of a huge saga 12 years in the making. I'd say Avatars record is way more impressive regardless.
