I just think Jlaw is entering hasbeen status, like not yet, but people are fed up with her and she seems like a celebrity more than an actress

OK. I wish Alicia well with her movie, by the way. I know a lot about it because they are trying to market it to Hunger Games fans. Not those who read your posts, of course, but I question the wisdom of your tactics.

Tomb Raider may well be the franchise that launches Alicia as a popular actress (as opposed to art house - loved her in Ex Machina), however, google trends doesn't show Jen as a has been:

that doesn't include mother! marketing, since that was in August and September, and this is just the last 90 days, and does reflect Margot's awards interest (if you go back a year, Emma Stone spiked at the academy awards as well).  However, if these people are has beens, who isn't?

Box office decreased their prediction from 26m to 22m and a total domestic run of 69m.

Let's see how it goes the following weeks, after the black panther hype lessens a bit.

And as promo for this picks up. Honestly, their predictions aren't that great, so I'm just waiting for the movie.

They note Jen's ballet trainer here.  Jen studied for four or more months, and was able to make it through the entire dance routine by the end.  Obviously they will use her ballet body double for the long shots, but Francis Lawrence didn't want to be limited in editing where he could switch to a shot of Jen.

I feel like this movie has more potential to harm her draw power/image at this point. I can definitely see a chunk of her fanbase being put off by this.

Lawrence even credits the movie with helping heal some of the trauma that came with having her personal photos hacked and leaked online, an experience that's just nightmare fuel for most of us but a terrible reality for Lawrence and a number of other high profile women.

"It was never my choice for the world to see my naked body. I didn’t get to make that decision. In doing this film, in doing this for my art… I really felt, I still feel, empowered," she says. I feel like I took something back that was taken from me."

    Some fans those would be.

Yeah, still not feeling the hype here. SB spot reception seems pretty muted/poor. Maybe reviews are great and its a WOM hit, but as of now can't see an opening above 25.

I don't know why they released the Superbowl spot the night before. Definitely cut down on excitement when it was on TV. I have no idea what the opening will be, but I get the feeling Fox is confident.

The brown wig looks pretty good, but the blond one not so much.

I think the brown wig and the blonde with the coat outside that some people people think looks Atomic Blondish both look like wigs. The ones that don't to me are the ones she wears when she isn't 'on assignment' (at least the context of when she wears them looks more natural in the trailers).  One is the first look you see in the clip below, where she has her finger to her lips and you see it a few other times.   I had decided you were subconsciously supposed to be thinking 'disguise' when she was working on a target. The ballerina brunette wig similarly looks natural to me.

ADVANCE SCREENING on Washington, D.C. - Feb 15
SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY THE CAST AND FILMMAKERS TO FOLLOW

    https://redsparrowdcscreening.splashthat.com/

That is the same day that Jen is doing a "Times Talk" for the New York Times in DC, along with Francis Lawrence,  and former C.I.A. Chief of Disguise Jonna Hiestand Mendez.   Apparently, Mendez worked with the author of the book (and not on Jen's wigs for the picture, unfortunately...)

Aren’t there supposed to be several books ? Why did JLaw sign up for a new potential francise?

At this level you probably do not lock yourself  on any future movie anyway (that you would not know the director or see a script in advance and in this case not having see what all the books would look like), so it is not a big deal engagement wise.

A bit like SALT that was a potential franchise but never got it's sequel or how long it took for Damon to make another Bourne (that he did apparently because of an engagement him and Greengrass being able to make and loose a lot of money on Greenzone).

The third book is out in February: "The Kremlin's Candidate".

However, Jen has traditionally mixed her passion projects with more lucrative commercial movies, that way she doesn't price herself out of doing her passion projects.

Ah but isn’t margot already confirmed for the QT role? She seems to be the new IT girl in town. Curious whom will QT chose tho

It's unclear if Margot was confirmed or just one of the people Tarantino spoke to.  He spoke to Jen a couple of weeks before, but I don't know if she took the part or not. My understanding is they were not up for the same role, but it could be Jen turned it down.  I don't want Jen as Tate, I want her as Atkins. But looking at a fuller description the movie seems more focused on the male roles, so maybe there wasn't enough in the female roles, or something, and she wasn't interested, or maybe the role WAS Tate and she wasn't interested.   But Tarantino wanted her for Daisy in Hateful Eight. It is hard to think of him speaking to her about a Sharon Tate role.

But I'm thinking now she isn't in it.  She has a bunch of projects she is attached to, but most for one reason or the other seem not to be just around the corner.  Burial Rites supposedly has been looking at filming locations in Iceland, but then again, they just attached the Call Me By Your Name director to that, and it would be awfully fast work for a director to turn on a dime like that.  The script is done for Zelda, being produced by Ron Howard, but I don't know where it stands beyond that.

She said she was taking a break, but I hope (selfishly) that it ends soon.

    Quote

    'Red Sparrow' (March 2)

Jennifer Lawrence stars in the spy thriller as Russian intelligence operative Dominika Egorova, who fosters a complicated relationship with a CIA agent (Joel Edgerton). But unlike, say, James Bond, Dominika gets pulled into this world against her will: The former prima ballerina suffers an injury, becomes the newest recruit to Sparrow School, and is trained to be a deadly seductress. “I’m attracted to lonely, isolated characters on lonely, isolated journeys,” says director Francis Lawrence, who also helmed three of Lawrence's four Hunger Games films. “But I also really like when characters are in a dilemma where the audience can sit back and imagine being in the situation themselves. There are elements of her story that allow us into the spy world in a more personal way and not a political way.” That emotional pull differentiates Red Sparrow, as does its tonal qualities: “It’s a bit audacious, a little perverse, a little scary (and) very tense.”
