Dune Part 2
1130 but it didn't start until 12 PM
- Godzilla x Kong (Which I didn't realize was so close!)
- Ghostbusters Frozen Empire
- The First Omen
- Challengers
- Horizon
- Twisters
- Something I probably missed. Maybe Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
Some old man the row behind me kept having occasional commentary and put his feet on the bottom row and kept shaking me so I moved a row down. There was next to no reaction to anything.

Pinocchio getting all the way to #19 I didn't expect
I find it underrated, so I'm happy for it!

It’s something the chains bring out for bigger releases (and sometimes lower tier ones too). I would imagine Dune II has it most places, being the first real draw since Xmas
I know AMC did it for The Batman...maybe it happened and I totally missed it for other movies, I either went to the budget theater or saw movies weeks later when it would have been regular price.

Is there surge pricing on Dune for some chains? It's 14.18 at my Regal theater tomorrow when tickets are normally 13.64 (I think it was that price for the 3 PM showing today).
I can't compare it to another new release because there are none, but Ordinary Angels is about 12.45$.

And here I am going "I'll go in the middle of the day tomorrow, where there's less chance of others."

Anybody know who fraking much a ticket to this fiasco cost?
I guess another case proving that indded a sucker is born every minute.
£35 pounds / about 40$ USD.
Why apply to jobs when I can just slap on a halloween costume and build a Square Space site.

I have been laughing about THE UNKNOWN all day.

I think with Robot Dreams and Holdovers I have....23 or 24.
I at least know my top 8;
- Polite Society
- Godzilla Minus One
- Robot Dreams
- Dungeons and Dragons
- The Boy and The Heron
- The Holdovers
- Songbirds and Snakes
- The Creator
and bottom two
22. Super Mario Bros.
23. Wish

Over the 15 years since that night, Oscar lovers have been begging the Academy to bring back this Field of Dreams-like format.
Have we now.

Spoiler

They bought in Azula in their season 1 instead of her original season 2 (Well, if you ignore her cameos).
Spoiler
One of her scenes is infiltrating and pretending to be an Earth Kingdom peasant. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if that plotline lasted for more than 5 minutes? Maybe even 20? And she still betrays them and is unremorseful?
- It's also really great that Ozai is shown to actively be pitting his children against each other, but I do wish they had held back on showing him full on until the Agni Kai.That way you still see his mechanization but we aren't totally deprived of Daniel Dae Kim (and his pecs).
- Compounding some of the episodes. Jet/The Northern Air Temple/The Cave of Two Lovers/Kind Of Omashu are in the same arc of 2 episodes. I think it's a little crowded and Cave could have been removed, but the idea makes sense.
- Gordon Comier as Aang is adorable. One thing this show understands is that Aang had a tendency to be funny in the original show, which is something people kind of ignore.
- Dallas Liu as Zuko is the best casting out of the young cast. This young man understands the assignment!
- Showing the Air Nomad Genocide is endearing. I also like Gyatso!

What I didn't like.
Spoiler- Katara is severely sidelined. Like we see her grief and sadness before we see her spirit and caring nature. It does get a little better in the last episode.
- Some of the bending is kind of jank but funny? Watching an Airbender whip up a tornado that's suddenly ripped through via fire and burns her alive?
- For all of the improvements of the Fire Nation, I feel like they wanted to be their own thing so badly, they made changes that didn't make sense, mainly with Iroh. It feels like there's two characteristics at play with him and it very rarely works.
- They feel the need to shove so much exposition. Like...we do not need Kanna to recite the opening monologue from the animated show. To an iota of credit, they do give Kyoshi's backstory and it is accurate, meaning someone read The Rise of Kyoshi on staff.
- Why do we need to shoehorn the previous 3 Avatars in so quickly? It feels like they don't believe they'll get a second season (and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't). Why does Aang have to treat their statues like checkpoints?
- Spirited Away is just a terrible episode.
- People complained that the costumes looked too clean; That didn't bother me, but some did look more comical than others, mainly Mai's. They could have cut her hair down a bit, damn. And Yue's wig was awful. Also her character was really just .... they put so much into her this go around- One or the other, make her a princess or a priestess (which I'd prefer).

this'll probably be in RPX at my Regal, but watching Heron was such an odd experience with that screen that i'll probably just keep it on a normal screen.
-
Did we have another trailer for this?

I love 1, I don't like 2 outside of about 20 minutes (More Cannons! in the score and the accompanying scene is amazing), I don't remember 3 besides Kai's Theme being basically I"m So Sorry by Imagine Dragons.
So uh we'll see.

Rotten Tomatoes is at 60% right now.
This is going to be canceled in about 6 months, and nobody will care.
It's not bad but it ain't getting renewed.

They tried to take franchises with set audience demographics and tried to expand them and it didn't work.
What example would you give for that?

That voice over was really cringy.
Yeah I like the general idea, but if I have to listen to that the entire time...I'll wait until I can mute it.
Would have been impressive if they had eschewed it and did a lot more visual humor and subtitles.

“The switch was set in motion a few months ago, when Disney execs started getting a look at nearly finished episodes of the long-developing “Moana” series. The episodes, written and directed by David G. Derrick Jr. and animated at Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Canadian satellite studio, got a big thumbs up. Iger noted on the company’s earnings call last week that some at the studio thought it could be better than the movie. Soon, a plan was hatched: Could the episodes be combined into a single theatrical experience?“

So this was a recent change and likely after Wish bombed. The article also said they were trying to move up Zoo2 but that wasn't ready in time.
Oh I don't....that doesn't give me a lotta confidence. But we shall see!

Regal has cup toppers and a really cute popcorn bucket that looks like a Chinese takeout box. I should have asked how much it was but I was already a little late for Dune.
