I don't think Robbie is going to get much of a push or campaign from Neon. I don't think they're capable and if the movie was a serious awards contender another distributor would have picked it up for more than $3m
Yeah...why no big studio picked up after the buzz coming from Toronto

I hope it's a badly cut trailer, if I didn't know what New Mutants are I'd think it's a passable horror movie
-
Where are Sony #s. I hope they do their magic for that extra milli Homecoming needs

Three Billboards
The Florida Project
I Tonya

Compared to Ghost and Blade Runner, J.Law and Pratt did help Passengers afterall. Terrible reviews + facing Star Wars

What kind of moron goes to see BR2049 if either they haven’t seen BR or they have seen it and didn’t like it?
Ehm I didn't see the original (or read anything about it) and I loved 2049. It was easy to follow

Just got back from it. I was super hyped for this. Loved the original even though I see its flaws. This is an absolute bore, one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. I was fighting my eyelids the whole time, and I got 8 hours of sleep last night. Showtime was Noon. I loved Prisoners and Sicario, enjoyed Arrival. I have no idea what happened here. On paper, it looked great. I have no idea what movie the critics saw. Word of mouth among GA is going to be toxic. It is a 3 hour screensaver. It is a trainwreck with zero survivors. The visuals are amazing. The soundtrack is great but often awkward. The writing, editing, directing are truly epic fails. The actors are fine but you could tell Denis said "Make it more wooden this time". I can see a sub 2.5x on this easy. Sad sad day.
No clue what movie you saw...
“wooden acting” the...?

I thought we were looking at a $40-50M+ weekend.
Like damn what the hell happened? Was it that front loaded and people just didn't expect it to be?
Tracking was always $40m then trades started spreading "BR pre sales are better than The Martian, Gravity and War for the planet Apes" thus raising people predictions to $50m plus. Obliviously it was misleading

I really struggle to understand how the general audience loved the slow pace of something like the Revenant but it’s of the main complain about BR

And I'm not sure it play to someone that has not seen the original Blade Runner, it is referred quite a lot, that could hurt the legs, unlike a MadMax that really didn't need to have seen anything to work.
I didn’t watch the original or read spoilers and it was extremely easy to follow
-
Ryan was fantastic why would you even think to change him
If BR was doing $60m none would be saying he is a draw
-
When I said Apes, Gravity, The Martian pre sales comparison was misleading I got jumped on being told it was on lock for $50m

Titanic was like 200 minutes long...Revenant 160....and both did so well. i dont think running time will be a reason this underwhelmed

Because we still haven't learned to stop basing GA awareness/hype off fanboy-driven websites who studios always allow first screenings, knowing what easy lays (and loud mouths) they are. Then the film drops, the craziness dies down. Followed by them downplaying their own hyperbolic reactions with revisionist claims of "I never REALLY liked it!"
Amen

$100-105m puts it above TASM2 OW...that’s very likely. I don’t buy -as a marvel fan- the huge hype beyond the fanbase
