  1. Yeah I don't feel any vitriolic hate towards this, I thought it was fine - all the worst parts involve legacy sequel nonsense. The Exorcist is my favorite movie and none of the sequels can damage it, but this movie is damaging itself by forcing Burstyn etc into it. Other than that I don't have a problem with what the movie was trying to do, the most frustration I feel is that these exact ideas weren't developed even further and that we have now missed that chance. The most baffled I've repeatedly been with the DGG horror sequels (I do like them) is just how many characters get thrown in there, they feel like setups for a Netflix shows, except they're 2 hour movies. Since this is clearly the "normal" Exorcist legacy sequel akin to how Halloween 2018 was the normal Halloween sequel, I'm very curious where the hell DGG would take this for the rest of the trilogy. I hope they get made, and they'd probably annihilate the movie going audience forever.
  2. Unlike seemingly everyone else in the world, I'm fine with DGG continuing with these weird experiments making unnecessary late horror sequels because so far they seem to generate a lot of fun and funny discussions. They've definitely been interesting for good or bad. and if Believer has some of those occasionally really inspired or occasionally really weird decisions like Kills and Ends, I'm alright with having it around lol.
  3. The chuckle I just let out. Obviously I haven't seen the movie yet but I can't imagine myself not wanting to see this whole trilogy just to find out what they're smoking. Being a fan of the Halloween trilogy I'm very curious what in the world they think they're up to here.
  4. Oh dear I just found out I could've seen it this morning but that email for some reason ended up deep in my spam folder.
  5. Yeah I'm expecting middling 40-50%, a little above Kills and Ends. It might surprise some by how "unterrible" it may turn out to be, but still not really convince most that it's worthwhile.
  6. Just saw the new remaster of the original (well, Version You've Never Seen), what a fucking picture.
  7. Finally saw it and really liked it. Been a shockingly consistent year for old ass horror franchise favorites of mine delivering great late installments. This manages to work as a Saw film for Saw fans and a real movie for non-fans at the same time - practically a miracle how well this came together. It feels like the early movies, but it's also very different and works as a standalone piece. For all that Spiral seemed to want to "elevate" the series, Saw X ended up being the one to do it and it could still be a proper Saw film at the same time. I'm so fucking happy Tobin Bell got this gift.
  8. Up to the 80 reviews treshold for certified fresh now and still rocking 86% so yeah, guaranteed to happen. EDIT: They've taken the shot immediately. Saw is certified fresh.
  9. I agree with you, but this one also has a very specific hook that's perfect both for this specific time and for this franchise in general. The next one will risk just feeling like "here's another one". I liked Halloween Kills but the critical reaction to that is what XI could likely receive unless they truly find a special thematically rich and new idea that's still not pushing it too far.
  10. We can all ride high on the critical success of this one but it seems nearly impossible that lightning can strike twice with this. XI would really need something special to standout like this has done.
  11. 71 reviews in and it hasn't moved at all since the start, this is now turning out to be one of the most stable RT runs in a while. If anything it's only gotten stronger since the average rating began at a 6.5.
  12. After my rewatch of the whole series, 7 is unquestionably still the worst one.
  13. Going back to check the next day and nothing has moved except a dozen or so more reviews being added, what in the world is going on lol. Certified fresh looking more and more likely, that average rating is stupidly solid for this. EDIT: Incidentally now it has passed Saw 2's total amount of fresh reviews and it's racing to catch Spiral and the og lol.
  14. That it's still as high as 83% after 47 reviews and with the rottens still being few and far between is very promising, but god damn that would be next level wild for this.
  15. 6 did badly enough that Lionsgate panicked and scrapped movie 8 and all the ideas intended for it got shoved into 7 which would not end the series.
  16. Already has more fresh reviews on RT than 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, after a mere 36 in total.
  17. Well, this is going just fine. EDIT: And incoming positives from IGN, TheWrap and Inverse as well.
