Ghost in the Shell number was actually close to were it was estimated by Mojo. 7,306,413. Mojo had it at 7,350,000...
-
Smurfs final total was actually 13M not 14... 13,210,449
-
BATB actually made 2 million less then Deadline/Mojo estimates according to the Numbers.. You add Friday to Sunday numbers and you get 23M not 25M. 23,652,605 to be exacted.

The international performance for this is really quite horrendous.
I thought it would make more overseas than US.
You and me both. I thought OS would be were it made most of it's money, because for years I have been told by PR fans. That it was the OS markets that was keeping the show alive.

I've never seen a PR show in my life and I loved this but you are absolutely right.
I still don't get why this wasn't in August. Right before kids went back to school, would have eked out a bit more.
Agree,I think it massive 64 percent drops the weeks after it release would have been a lot less. If it wasn't going up against those blockbusters.

The rest of it -- well, you're a fan and you wanted a particular thing. I understand you're disappointed. But Saban and Lionsgate are probably turning a healthy little profit on this, so it's hard to say they did anything horribly wrong from a business standpoint.
How much profit can they really be turning from a movie that probably only manage 87M in US and 170 WW? And here a question if they did put another movie out. Would you see it?

The movie flopped period. Some PR fans can spin all they want, but it flopped. Their are several reasons they did so. Number 1, the director. I don't care how nice the guy is or how much a fan of the series he was. Haim Saban should have never been allowed to pick the director period. Lionsgate should have paid Saban to not be involved with the project. When you let Saban to be hands on. Stuff going to be done on the cheap. Case and point hiring a Director from a movie that bombed before this one. Number 2,the release date. Any way you slice it putting it up against BATB,Kong, and Logan was asine period. Number 3,the promotion of the movie. It had very little promos,ad,etc in the US or OS. If you have faith in a project. You promote the hell out of it. Clearly Lionsgate/Saban did not have faith in it. Finally the tone of the movie. The movie should have been none stop action, martial arts, and explosions. That was what the general audience was expecting. What they got was breakfast club junior. The fandom may have loved that, but the general audience didn't.

Said this on another forum.. I still wonder how much better PR movie would have done BO wise if it open in Jan or Feb. Away from BATB,Logan, and Kong. I think it would have not had the drops we have been seeing every week for sure.

The way they sold it internationally was a good thing and a bad thing. Good because theyll actually make profit on this one, but bad because they won't be able to sell it internationally again like this since it has done so poorly.
Yeah and clearly the distubtors OS didn't understand the project or care to promote it. Hence the bad numbers also.

To be honest, I'm curious would we have different results if it were an CGI animated family film, or a different studio like Disney or Universal.
Disney had PR at one time. They sold it back to Haim Saban. Who has a rep of being very cheap.

Nope.
sequels are dead in the water. maybe it be tried again 10 years from now,but right now. the movie plans are gone.

My final prediction on PR totals after it run.. Final total in US being 87M. Based of other similar movies and I will go 160 World Wide. Not great at all. I once had it at 250M World Wide weeks ago,but that's far out of reach now.

Didn't PR open in like France, Spain and Italy this weekend? In addition to the holdover countries? That is a pretty bad Intl Weekend number considering the new openings in 3 big markets.
Yeah pretty brutual. Whoever in charge of their OS promotion needs to be fired.

Is Power Rangers popular in China?
Super Sentai is. China even made their own version of Super Sentai. Don't know if that will translate into any good numbers though. Were going to have a clue about how it will fair in Asia in 2 weeks when it's in South Korea on April 20. But right now it doesn't even look like it will manage 100M OS when it's whole run is over.

I don't know. China is quite unpredictable. Perhaps robots and monsters will get the attention from chinese people there.
I expect this movie to perform like Pacific Rim.
I don't see that at this point. Not with (Not) Star Wars Smurfs 2 being released a week before. Also how does a movie only manage 42M OS in 3 weeks.. ugh!

Looks like Life is set to be a flop
Yeah, it joins PR on the flop train. PR will be lucky if it hits 150-170 World Wide. Would add Ghost in the Shell, but it's actually making money OS.

Beast can't shake off damn Baby it seems. Baby had slightly bigger Friday and now a 1M bigger Saturday. Unless Baby drops harder on Sunday than Beast, looks like Baby will stay #1.
Damn that Trump looking baby! He needs to be impeached!

How did Kong do RTH?
P.S. So for PR to reach the projected number of 6.3 from deadline of yesterday. It would need another 1.9 on Sunday. Right now it's two day total from Friday/Saturday is 4.4M. Whitewashed Smurfette is only .8 ahead of PR in it's second week of release. Got to wonder if Whitewashed Smurfette will even be in the top 10 next week. When it loses theaters. It will probably drop below Kong and PR next week for sure the way it's heading.

Interesting still nothing on deadline tonight on Saturday numbers. Guess they were nothing earth shattering.

Was bored. So I decided to see how the movies are doing on MT..
BB 23.9%
BATB 23.2%
Smurfs 10.4%
Going In Style 8.3%
PR 3.6%
P.S. Only change is PR creeping back up in the top 5 for today. Over, Your Name and Whitewashed Smurfette. Also Going In Style seems to be catching up to the Smurfs.
