I'm holding out hope Power Ranger can improve Saturday and Sunday.  Its international numbers won't be impressive this week since it's not opening anywhere significant (I think Argentina is the biggest market getting it this weekend, but I could be wrong) but it opens in some big markets next weekend.  So, yeah, I'm hoping it has better retention than the projections are expecting but, it's looking like China and Japan may be the last chance for this movie to make a decent amount of money.

Yeah, just not looking good right now. Unless in China it shocks us with the numbers. Think it safe to say it was a failure for Lionsgate.

The quality of Samurai and Super Megaforce, both productions from Saban Brands, could be one reason fans are used to disappointment: because the TV show has been so disappointing to many fans since Saban got it back in 2010.  Based on the weekday trends this week though, I will say I am expecting a number closer to $17 million than $20 million.

Yeah the show been getting worse year by year. The last season I watched was Dino Thunder. Tried SPD,but couldn't get into it. So I just stoped all together. I only got back into PR,because of the movie.

No offense but if this movie opens to $25M it might as well be a flop. Without Scarjo this film wouldn't have the pretty big $110M budget so it kind of goes both ways in that regard. You can't really say it would have been a monumental flop because 1) you don't know what kind of budget it would have had 2) You don't know which way the direction of the story would have went and 3) Depending on number 2, it could have gotten way better reviews and thus caught the attention of the GA

Bottomline is we don't know what would have happened with Scarjo not it.

Last week if PR opened to $25M, people would have called it a bomb but GITS with a similar budget opening to $15M less is suddenly not considered a flop? I know GITS will do better internationally than PR but still.

Yeah, seems like their a double standard going on. Also couldn't the 1.8M be front loaded just like some claimed PR number was front loaded last week. GITS is also what some called a fanboy movie. Since it based off an anime.

Great number for Beauty. $9.5 million would be about a 35% increase from Monday.

Looks like great increases all around from what is posted so far at The Numbers:

    - (3) Kong: Skull Island Warner Bros.  $1,737,061  +37%
    - (4) Life Sony Pictures  $1,444,576  +40%
    - (5) Logan 20th Century Fox  $1,240,612  +27%

    Peace,

    Mike

Curious why PR number not out yet.

It dropped 35.5% after rising 32% last week, so proportionally speaking we'd be looking at a 41% drop this time around.

    Something like:

    5.6

    5.3

    12.2

    20.5

    15.4

$48m weekend, $397m through Sunday could be what it's in for. $50m+ is doable though - all depends on that Wednesday drop.

Still should be enough for it to get the top spot for a third week in my opinion.
