Dont exaggerate. Theres like only one person who thinks its disappointing.

I was one of the posters who thought 100M was possible for this. But 81M+ is still absolutely great for an Ant-Man movie, especially after the deluge of huge blockbusters weve gotten in the last weeks.

Looked like more than one person, even in the first pages of this thread.

I won't derail the thread too much again, but still think the "controversy" is one willed into existence by a very vocal minority through some well timed circumstance.  They drive the audience score through the floor before 95% of the public have seen it and catch the attention of some lower level online blogs.  They write a few articles and because it is Star Wars it gets more clicks than anything else would, especially when being sold as controversy.  The mainstream media outlets pick up on it (New York Times even now) and run with it.

Couple in the weird calendar set up, the long run time and Jumanji fully breaking out and I think it is starting to have an effect, especially with families making their movie choice this time of year.  Sort of the perfect storm and it happened.

    Spoiler

People give a similar excuse for BVS

I can't wait to see what the TFA defenders say when The Last Jedi ends up being a rehash of ESB.

Maybe people will stop being so harsh on JJ for making a studio film the way the over controlling studio obviously wanted.

Emoji shows how animations can be lucrative. DM3 is a great example on a larger scale. Honestly only DM1 was good for me (didn't watch DM3 after DM2 and Minions). But DM franchise has been insane money-making bonanza. Yes once in a while an animation too will fail like NJ2. But that too considering it's small budget won't loose money once auxiliary revenue is done.

Animations can also be great for mechandizing like CBMs.

Warner Bros really need to do something with WAG. That's the only thing missing really from their repertoire. Nolan wants to do Bond but animation would be a bigger challenge. I hope he does it. His name will pull enough people.

Seems like they created a committee following Lego Movie. And they banked way to hard on Lego's popularity.

Spider-Man was good and made money because they let Marvel make it and add in Iron Man. Call me when Sony itself can make another well received Spider-Man movie that makes over 800mil. Baby Driver was "their" success though, I'll grant you that.

Sony is a distribution studio, they don't "make any movies themselves" by your definition. Working Title did Baby Driv

    FULL REVIEW HERE: https://www.rendyreviews.com/movies//the-dark-tower-review

Dear Sony, stop releasing movies. Please after that 2014 hack, I think it's time to turn in your towel. You got lucky with Goosebumps in 2015, Sausage Party in 2016, and Baby Driver this past June. I would say Spider-Man Homecoming as well, but we all know that the majority of the heavy lifting came from Marvel Studios. Besides those mentioned films, you guys fucked up tremendously. For two weeks in a row, you managed to consecutively release steaming pile of garbage (The Emoji Movie) after steaming pile of garbage (The Dark Tower), and I’m tired of it.

Here's the name that you should fear, Akiva Goldsman.I guess every time, I see the name Akiva Goldsman in a credit it just shows how shitty a movie will be. Screw getting excited for a film nowadays.  It makes me wonder how does this guy get to find work? Seriously every movie he’s credited for this year have been ending up on my worst of 2017 list to far. You got Rings (one of 3 writers), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (producer), Transformers: The Last Knight (story or lack there of), and now The Dark Tower another entry in the shitty career of Akiva Goldsman. If Goldsman’s name is in the credits whether its writer, producer, or story, there’s no reason to have faith in it anymore.

Do people really love excessive hyperbole, especially when it's effectively dog-piling at this  point? Is this what people are looking for in reviews these days?

"Oh, Sony stop making movies cause you had two panned movies follow your two acclaimed movies, that's fifty-fifty and not really that bad, but oh well."

"Oh, Sony, you're a distribution studio that hired a production studio to make a movie, like every movie in the universe. But this time, the production studio is going to have to take all the credit cause it's good now and the production studio's name is marvel"

    "Sony, you are literally Satan."

    "Sony you killed the world."

Spider-Man isn't showing up. Trust me. Sony wouldn't dare to fuck their partnership with Marvel Studios up.

First, I doubt MS would suddenly let go of Spidey just for something that trivial, because now that they've actually revived him, they still kinda need him, the MCU is 10 years old, fans are getting older, movies are getting frontloaded, they need the freshness and the youth appeal, you'll notice them gunning for it in the new films.

Second, MS wouldn't even complain in the first place. Why would they?

Third, and most important, yes Sony would fuck it up. It's what the internet says they're good at, remember?
