When does the real embargo break? Interested in the more balanced reactions.
Looks like it's the 15th, probably going to be 9am PST/12pm EST is my guess.
#Encanto screenings have started. Some details for those who want to know:

Disney's #Encanto is vivid and imaginative. You'll fall in love with the Madrigal family immediately! pic.twitter.com/cAHnNMQv2G
— That Hashtag Show (Official) (@ThatHashtagShow) November 4, 2021#Encanto may be one of the best films I’ve seen all year. I was genuinely touched throughout, and couldn’t stop myself from dancing in my seat. From pitch perfect performances to gorgeous animation to storylines that really hit home, this movie is set to be a classic! pic.twitter.com/SAHPnBD3R8
— The Distracted Tatiana (@myrcellasear) November 4, 2021#Encanto enchants w/ its beautiful Colombian cultural specificities, colorful visuals, and emotionally resonating themes of family. 60 films in, Disney still finds ways to captivate its audience with their animated musicals. This one is a real tearjerker but also such a joy! pic.twitter.com/b56JeTW6dF
— Michael Lee 🍥 (@IamMichaelJLee) November 4, 2021#Encanto is super cute! Stephanie Beatriz, Diane Guerrero and Jessica Darrow shine. I loved the music, the songs are so fun and lively. It’s got a beautiful message about self worth, and it was refreshing to see some Afro-Latinx characters not just in the background, but as part pic.twitter.com/6bLG6n0q8o
— Aaron (@aaronfraggle) November 4, 2021of the main cast, hopefully paving the way for better representation going forward. pic.twitter.com/jEXeyMXokf
— Aaron (@aaronfraggle) November 4, 2021Disney’s #Encanto is just lovely. It’s full of so much energy and fun. I’m not always a musical fan, but Luisa’s song has been in my head since the screening. It’s the perfect family film. Also, cute animated rats are always a happy thing for me. pic.twitter.com/NWNvh9z932
— Jenna Busch (@JennaBusch) November 4, 2021#Encanto/ @EncantoMovie is a joyful, jubilant ode to family with the perfect blend of heart & humor. Enchanting, hugely entertaining, awe-inducing & dazzling. A must-see magical marvel. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s songs will make you tap your feet & make tears fall. pic.twitter.com/IILzBDj6ro
— Courtney Howard (@Lulamaybelle) November 4, 2021#Encanto is a fun and charming entry into the @DisneyAnimation canon. @Lin_Manuel's songs are amazing, and, I mean... A main character with glasses! And short, curly hair! A win for all of us.
— Marah Eakin (@marahe) November 4, 2021#Encanto's visuals are breathtaking. It's always a fun time with Lin-Manuel Miranda behind the songs, but it isn't as catchy as his previous works. As for the film's story? It's lacking that dramatic punch. There was someone in my theater sobbing loudly, so there's that. pic.twitter.com/VoTFE2cw1h

First reactions are up!
Encanto is a visual and musical feast for the eyes & ears. A joyous animated celebration of Colombian culture & family. Lin-Manuel’s music continues to impress and is very likely be recognized for Best Original Song. Loved all the characters especially Mirabel and Bruno. #Encanto pic.twitter.com/DHTmzYngfw
— Scott Menzel (@ScottDMenzel) November 4, 2021Encanto is stunning! A colorful display of the visual and cultural wonder of Colombia. The film is filled with life, vibrant colors, lively music and memorable, charismatic characters. It warms my soul to see a Disney film celebrating Colombia. Que se escuche mi gente! #Encanto pic.twitter.com/mNQt11Bgg0
— Andres Cabrera (@SquadLeaderAce) November 4, 2021#Encanto was heartwarming and sweet, filled with songs to jam to, and a story that felt authentic and universal. I really dug it. pic.twitter.com/XY9tToqvxX
— Michael T Ford III (@MTFIII) November 4, 2021#Encanto is a really good movie with really great music. Not gonna be surprised if it’s the one that gets Lin-Manuel Miranda that EGOT.
— Kevin Polowy (@djkevlar) November 4, 2021#Encanto had me crying, laughing, and enjoying myself from start to finish. It's a beautiful film with an amazing cast of characters that you can't help but love! Also, you thought you liked Luisa now? Wait til you see her truly blossom! Premiere is tonight as well, so we should probably be seeing some stuff about this on Twitter later on.

I hate that this is going to D+ after 30 days which is way too soon, but Disney gotta sell subscriptions.
That, Spider-Man, and Sing are probably going to eat into its legs (what with the massive TC drops I'm expecting by the holidays). I was thinking about it this morning, and this might actually end up being the most front-loaded WDAS film of all time.
Not that I'm helping towards the cause, per se. The 30-day window has made me lose any urgency to see this in theatres, and I'm not really in a rush to go back to theatres after Free Guy.

LOL what's next, "soars less often than it strains"?
"An ambitious superhero epic that strains as often as it soars, Eternals takes the MCU in confounding -- and occasionally intriguing -- new directions."
Not gonna lie, the most enjoyable part about the Tomatometer taking the journey it has is seeing the Critics Consensus blurb change each time. Nothing drastic, just small albeit noticeable changes, and I can't help but giggle each time.

Review embargo lifts this Wednesday according to Matt Neglia
That's pretty early, a full 3 weeks before release. I know we just saw what happened with Eternals, but I can't imagine Disney lifting the embargo super early is going to backfire on them for the second time this year, let alone in two weeks, so I'm expecting good things to come from this.
-
I know that trailer views don't properly correlate with box office, but I can't be the only one surprised that the official trailer on the WDAS channel already has over 24 million views despite being up for less than three weeks. I don't think Frozen II's September trailer got there that quickly, and none of the September trailers for Moana, Ralph Breaks the Internet or Coco got there before release either (Ralph is still under 10 million, and Coco is under 4 million).
Also, the Japanese poster is out now.

Not sure if anyone else has seen this, but they previewed one of the songs last week.

If I'm impatient enough then I'll make an attempt to catch this in theatres like I did with Shang-Chi. But since this seems to be free on D+ by Christmas (it would be cruel of them to charge extra for a "gift"), it's going to be interesting to see how big this gets on D+.
Curious to see how this legs out in theatres though. Most WDAS Thanksgiving releases still had a fair bit left in the tank after day 30, but the current December slate is so crowded it was probably going to cut into the gross regardless, but we'll see.

After reading the comments from the Klev's livestream in the clip I can definitively say that I am very much excited for...
Bus Boy and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Also I'm just noticing that the jacket that Shang-Chi wears in both the bus clip and the scaffolding clip appears to be one and the same.

I only have to wait 45 days??...yeah, that's the final info I needed...
I kind of feel the same way here. Outside of the Avengers films, I usually took my sweet time to see most Marvel movies in theatres pre-pandemic (and I still haven't seen Black Widow yet). So if I'm only waiting an additional 45 days to see Shang-Chi on Disney+, then I honestly wouldn't mind the extra wait, especially since it's only gonna be 12 days after Black Widow shows up sans PA.

Decided to take a peek at Critics Choice before the embargo went up:
Cruella 81/100 Given how the previous live-action remake things from Disney did, this is on the higher end? If I had to wager a guess, this will probably be fresh...

I enjoyed the trailer. Not my fantastically outstanding by any means, but it was enough to get me interested in the film. I'm more pumped about there being a live-action Asian superhero in Hollywood than anything, and it's something I would have loved to see growing up. That said, I do hope I'm not setting myself up for disappointment seeing as this is Disney's third big release in the span of a year with a predominantly Asian cast. Mulan was a bit of trainwreck, to put it lightly; with regards to Raya, I was able to catch that one a while back, and while I think it's a good movie, I was underwhelmed with how it handled SEA representation. Hopefully third time's the charm here, but what I'm seeing so far is exciting.
As an aside, the teaser finally pushed me to start watching Kim's Convenience, and I'm honestly kicking myself for not seeing it sooner - so many things in the show that I can relate to a T

Yeah not only Raya, Soul too felt like nobody really knows about it until the WOM spread and since it was OTT release all the hype almost died in the week.
If I'm being honest, I think Disney has been hoping that their animated releases were pretty reliant on WOM for the last several years. It's great when there's a large enough opening for it to spread, but when the WOM is fairly tepid, or in Raya's case, not enough people are seeing it in the first place, then it really doesn't do it any favours.
I think Soul being an OTT release without PA helped it greatly with regards to getting the word out. It died out quickly, but having it as brand new release just pop up in the service is probably enough to pique the interest of anyone who logged onto the service that day, and Soul got far more promotion than most Disney+ releases, which probably helped a bit too.

So, if the pandemic hadn't been a thing and this had gotten a regular theatrical release, how big of an opening weekend would it have most likely gotten?
I'm assuming the movie would have kept it's original November 25 date in that case, So it would have been a Thanksgiving opening with what I would guess to be $55M/$80M for the 3/5-day weekends and then leg out to $200-250M, if Moana, Coco and Ralph Breaks the Internet were any indication.

How long did it take for Mulan to become free on Disney+?
Do you guys expect Raya and BW to get the same treatment?
They've confirmed Raya will be free on Disney+ on June 4.
If I'm being honest, 3 more months really isn't that long of a wait, but I've gotten used to seeing almost every WDAS film since Wreck-It Ralph in theatres within the first 3 weeks (I didn't catch Frozen until a month in, but I still managed to sneak in a viewing of Ralph Breaks the Internet and Frozen II on opening weekend just before finals), and I was really looking forward to seeing this at the nearest drive-in when they announced this was still coming to theatres, but that last part really didn't pan out.

A handful of chains aren't showing the movie because Disney is still asking for their usual absurd terms despite the movie being available to watch at home the same day.
That's here in the US at least. Not sure about everywhere else.
It's even worse up here in Canada. Cineplex is far and away the biggest chain here with 164 theatres and none of them are showing Raya. The next two largest chains, Landmark and Imagine, are showing it but combined they only have 59 theatres (Landmark has 45, Imagine has 14) of which a handful are still closed, which to be honest, screws over Imagine far more than Landmark. Premier, a drive-in chain here, isn't showing it here either.

That's always been the conventional wisdom, but the success of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse does seriously call it into question.
As for Raya itself, the "action-movie" aspects were mostly played up by the early trailers. The later trailers, however, made it out to be a more generic "kid's" movie, complete with one-liners and fart jokes. The same thing actually happened with both Big Hero 6 and Moana. Their early trailers suggested they were more dramatic and action-oriented than they actually were, and the later trailers gave a more accurate depiction of the movie's tone. Frozen did the opposite--its first trailer made it out to be a goofy comedy, and only later did the advertising reveal it to be a musical with a fairly serious plot.
I don't really think that was the case with Big Hero 6 and Moana's early trailers. Big Hero 6's teaser is literally just a montage of Hiro struggling to put on Baymax's armour that's played for laughs, while Moana's arguably played up the musical aspects of the film more, while introducing Maui.
I was going to say Zootopia hued closest since it's teaser sort of laid the groundwork for the main premise (even if it made Nick look more like the main character), but then I remembered the sloth trailer exist, so maybe not. -

jesus christ Raya and the Last Dragon is 114 minutes long
that's the longest of any movie from WDAS or Pixar rightedit: Nope, Cars from 2006 is longer lol.
It says 112 minutes on Disney+ for me, and the closest theatre open to me has it at 108 minutes. I'm assuming the extra minutes are there to credit the dubs for the film. For Disney+ times, there's also Incredibles 2 at 118 minutes, The Incredibles at 115 minutes, and Ralph Breaks the Internet at 116 minutes. Ratatouille comes close at 111 minutes though.

It’s a total shame that it just won’t be possible for Raya to match the Box-Office numbers of any of the other Disney Revival movies - However, it appears that Raya is continuing the Disney Revival streak of critical acclaim!
Currently the movie is sitting at 96% on RottenTomatoes - I can’t wait to check out this movie over the weekend.
I wouldn't say it's impossible to match any of their releases - it should at least be able to get past Winnie the Pooh's $50M worldwide.

Critics Choice is up for Raya right now, and it's looking very good:
Raya and the Last Dragon 93/100 Here's the last 12 WDAS and Pixar films for reference:
Film Critics Choice Film Critics Choice Meet the Robinsons 75 Cars 2 67 Bolt 85 Brave 81 The Princess and the Frog 85 Monsters University 79 Tangled 84 Inside Out 93 Winnie the Pooh 75 The Good Dinosaur 75 Wreck-It Ralph 82 Finding Dory 89 Frozen 88 Cars 3 66 Big Hero 6 85 Coco 89 Zootopia 91 Incredibles 2 88 Moana 89 Toy Story 4 93 Ralph Breaks the Internet 83 Onward 80 Frozen II 79 Soul 92
As someone from SEA, I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Problem being though, most theatres are still closed in my immediate area, and the ones that are open don't seem to be playing Raya. So I'll probably be waiting quite a while to see this one.
Edit: I guess I should also mention Premier Access is no-go for me. Not really in the mood to shell out additional $35 for something for a service I'm already paying for.

All I'm saying is that I hope theaters are open in my province by March because no way am I giving Disney the satisfaction of 30 dollars to watch this by myself on my tiny little TV.
*$35 in Canada, which I also refuse to shell out (especially when Disney+ here is getting a pretty significant price hike) regardless of if this ends up being really amazing (I hope it is), I really hope Drive-Ins open up again in my province soon, although I feel like that's not going to happen.

This one is starting out a lot rougher than I was expecting, at least on MC. 60 is... not great.
Edit: At least things are looking up, it's up a bit to 65 now. Hopefully this pulls a Logan.
