My local teather (also Rio) is giving it 3 screenings at midnight previews, and they’re already sold out (tickets available only in the first two rows). This local only gave JL 1 preview screening (which was stupid, this screening was completely sold out well before and they should have put up another).
The other local is giving SW 5 screenings at previews, while it gave JL 3. Really good sales, they should all sell out.
Thing is, I feel SW is much more fan-base frontloaded, and the rest of the weekend won’t match the previews. In addition, now pretty much all schools have ended for the year, so more people will be watching the movies during the week.
@Blaze Heatnix, could it be that this screening was a new one, that they had just opened? Or people in Botafogo are more laid-back, and wait till the last moment. xD In Barra da Tijuca, the previews are selling like crazy.

Yesterday I watched the Steelers x Packers game (SNF) here in Brazil, and there were 6 (six!!) ads for SW:TLJ during commercials. That is a very aggressive trailer campaign. Usually movies, even the big ones, only get this kind of marketing the week of release, not 3 weeks before.

Avengers 3 will get a 4-day OW, JL got a-day OW so not comparable. Like I said earlier we'll have to compare their daily average to know which one is the most performant.
On the other hand, if you do that you are taking into consideration a Thursday and a weekend that were lower than a usual Thursday/weekend. All the mega fans, that would be there on OD regardless of it being a holiday or not, went on Wednesday, not on Thursday. Also, many non mega fans that would have watched it on the weekend, watched it on Wednesday because it was a holiday, lowering the numbers for the weekend. Therefore, it's not advisable to compare by the daily average.

I don't think November 20th is a holiday.
Some people celebrate it but there are no schools out or anything like that.
It’s not a national holiday, but it’s a state holiday in some states like RJ, RS, MT, and it’s a city holiday in some cities. In Rio, for example, nothing will open. But, yes, it’s not the whole country (not even the majority, I think). So there should be some consequences to box office, but not like last wednesday.

I'm a poor substitute, but if I'm interpreting Deep Wang's info correctly, JL's final tally is around ⅔ of BVS's final presales.
Shit. Two thirds of BvS is 6.07 on the scale, which would be lower than SMHC and about the same as Thor.
-
JL is doing 145 a minute now. That's better than 125 WW was doing, but worse than 216 SMHC was doing.

Just now, Diana Prince said:
Thanks, but maybe JL started off at higher initial than those movies. Deep Wang said that it was outpacing BvS and 90% higher than WW at an earlier point this week. Therefore, wouldn't that leave it with less room to grow? Just sayin'.
Yes, I am considering that too. Deep Wang said WW and SM were head to head before the last two days of presales, and considering JL had up to Monday 2x the presales of WW, it means JL also had 2x the presales of SMHC. So SMHC had way more ground to cover, and their higher numbers are explainable. The same thing (to a lesser extend) to Thor. Deep Wang said JL was running 25% ahead of Thor, so Thor also has more ground to cover.

JL is doing 115 per minute average on Fandango
According to @TalismanRing numbers, Thor was doing 175 and IT 186 at the same point.

Thank you.
Hmm.... these JL numbers don't look nearly as good as the NYC Fandango sell out charts.
Wonder is holding steady but surging like MOTOE.
The Star might hit Nutty numbers by tonight.
Yes. I think it's going to to great on the coasts, but apparently WB forgot to market between them.

That seems... awfully low for a movie this size. Even WW that was tracking for 65M opened with 4,165.

Hum. Ok. That would be different. I considered it would be like 5 p.m., closer to the previews.

I know at my theater I would refuse to sit in the front row. Heck, the third and fourth rows for me was too close when I saw Logan. I have to be at least five rows and above to comfortable.
Yep. That's why it takes a while to get sellouts. The person wants to buy the tickets for a preview, for example, and sees there are only tickets available on the first two rows. She says: "Oh, no, I'm going to buy for tomorrow that I can get better seats".
In the end, only people who reeeally want to watch the movie that day (like people who are already at the mall and think, "why not") will accept the front rows a few hours before it starts.

How did you come to that conclusion looking at this data???
Let's take a look at the numbers:
GOTG2: 342 / 88 / 34/ 9
Thor 3: 313/192/26/ 6 (1pm)
JL: 345/171/27/3 (1pm)JL has more screenings than Thor. That's excellent, because 2 theaters filled with 70% capacity is better then 1 theater completely sold out.
Thor had more reserved seating screenings, so that means more screenings for @TalismanRing to analyse for sellouts. Even with more reserved seating, it has less sellouts than JL (so if JL had more reserved seating screenings, @TalismanRing could have discovered even more sellouts). Therefore, JL is clearly doing better numbers than Thor.
I assume the numbers for GOTG2 posted, considerind there is no time on them, are closer to the time the previews started. Let's go. GOTG2 has basically the same number of showings that JL has. So their numbers are easy to correlate. GoTG2 only had 88 reserved seating screenings, while JL has double. So for JL to have the same numbers, it has to have double the numbers of sellouts - that means, about 70. Considering sales pick up largely the day of the showing, I truly believe JL can get to that number in a few hours. Lots of people wait to buy their tickets on the day, even on OD/previews, because that's when they'll know for sure their schedules.
My theater in Brazil for the previews had tons of people buying tickets a few hours before. The first two/three rows only filled a couple hours before the movie started.

Full day. It’s the highest first day ever (12,9M lc), beating out Twilight BD2 (11M), that had also opened on the same holiday, and Civil War (10,1M), which was the highest CBM OD.

JL picked up big time. 120 at worst. 130-150M is our range. It is what is.
72 per minute is still very far away from the 90 tickets per minute that IT was doing at 21h, according to @TalismanRing comps. Sadly. But I still hope JL will do 135.

Wonder going to take out Thor for second place this weekend?
I don't think so. It may even end up having more admissions, but as it has been mentioned a couple of times, its ticket average price is very low because of discounts. And Thor also has 3d. So it should do more even if it sells less tickets.

I always use ingresso.com too (usually the app on my phone, it's the easier way for me).
The screenings I mentioned that were sold out or almost were the midnight previews on Wednesday night. The show that I'm watching (on Sunday) it's empty, I was the first to buy. I didn't check Thrusday or Friday, so they could be empty around here too. The fans go crazy for the first screenings, so later on the weekend it's normal to only sell later.
I'm only watching it on Sunday, because of work and other commitments, so don't worry. Just have to try to avoid spoilers. xD
You managed to find 2d screenings? Here there's only 3d. =/ But I'm used to it, the teather right next to me is kind small (only 6 screens), so the big movies never get 2d, they just want that 3d price.
