It's much bigger than that. Cameron owns ALL the rights to alita. Any anime studio that wants to do something with it goes through him.

It was a different time. How films were released was MUCH different back then and it made sense to re-release films in theatres. That ship sailed when home video became a major player

It depends on much of the film is in hfr. If the majority of it is ( and that could very well be the case) it's going to have some problems with audiences

I know numerous people who can't do 3d because it gives them headaches. If the hfr adds on to that it could be a pretty big issue

Hasn't hfr caused similar issues for the other major films that have tried it (the hobbit movies and bill Lynn for example)

Yeah mall theatres can be hit or miss

To be fair ailta does not have the biggest following in the anime community in NA. I think it would helped if JC went to some bigger anime studios like bones Wit or madhouse and had them make an anime based on the series a couple years beforehand.
