IATSE Strike Discussion Thread | Deal ratified

Ok can you explain in layman's terms what is wrong with the deal that was reached. I'm late to the party and I want to fully understand what is going on -

So it's not going to get ratified? Also how would this affect tv-series and movies that are being filmed overseas for American studios -
I think you misunderstand my first point. Jurassic park 4 went back to the drawing board a few times and was taken off universal's release schedule at least twice that never happened with avatar 2 and the GA seems frustrated by it. The only way it gets close to the record is if it gets a release in China which seems unlikely right now but things could change

The consensus among people I know through discord is it's been pushed back wayyy to many times. And unlike a Jurassic park 4 Cameron keeps saying it's coming out

The thing is the discourse on avatar 2 being a joke has gotten MUCH louder over the years. Look up gus Johnson's skit on avatar 2 on YouTube.

Ok so here is the idea I had for y9 and the film festival... We open the fest after Canadian thanksgiving and and the deadline super bowl Saturday. We open y9 a in mid- late October and run it to mid late March. -
Ok so here is my idea.... For p1 of y9 we open in mid to late October and close in mid to late March. This would give us enough time to focus on films without having to push back the date.

I still think that cutting the budget in half is too big of a drop so here is a compromise 30 ic/75 ooc. I have never followed cannes so when I think film festival my mind immediately goes to TIFF
