This thing seriously comes out in 2.5 weeks? I've seen zero ads anywhere. I saw Wrinkle ads. Hell, I even saw Strange Magic ads, and next to nobody remembers that movie ever existed.

Venom multiplier = Logan +0.04, +0.04, +0.04, +0.03, 2nd Weekend +0.04, +0.04It's pretty steady with Logan so far. If it stayed always stuck at +0.04 its final domestic multiplier would be 2.60 and its gross would be ~208.7M.
March isn't too bad a comparison to October.

Could be worse.
There's no Jumanji 2 and Star Wars 8 to suck up >$1B in ticket sales domestic together this time (but next year is a different matter). So there's more potential money available to the numerous releases.

IGN - PETER JACKSON'S MORTAL ENGINES LOOKS KIND OF AMAZING
http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/10/05/peter-jacksons-mortal-engines-looks-kind-of-amazing
SpoilerThe panel opened with that first 25 minutes of footage, which was pretty stunning. Immediately we’re thrown into the scene of one giant moving city -- London -- pursuing a smaller, town-like place, with the latter rolling along in a high-speed chase that sounds like the most unlikely of circumstances but actually plays as a gripping chase scene.
On the bridge of London, Hugo Weaving (as Thaddeus Valentine) oversees the pursuit over their overmatched soon-to-be victim town. The chase culminates with grinding wheels on the victim town falling apart, and giant harpoons being launched at the town, and it being “ingested” by London.
Within London we meet Tom Natsworthy (Sheehan) and Katherine Valentine (George), who discuss the “60-Second War” of the distant past that almost wiped out mankind. But soon, Hester Shaw (Hilmar), a resident of the town that was just ingested, attacks Thaddeus and flees. Another chase follows as Natsworthy and Shaw find themselves amid her old town as it is essentially consumed by the larger city in a humongous factor of sorts. It all culminates in the pair, perhaps inevitably, literally falling together into the same dire circumstances that will no doubt result in the two having to work together for the greater good in order to avoid a potentially cataclysmic event.- 2

For the curious. Note that not all movies launched on a weekend, such as TASM, though I haven't gotten around to specifically noting the titles. Sequels are more frontloaded than origins or first entries in general, and the calendar also has an effect, as does the overall opening and box office.

Some new guy directed the film it's not Peter Jackson. Which is either good or bad depending on your point of view.
I might check it out in December if I find someone else that interested to go.
December is a pretty friendly time for multiple movies doing well.

Yeah that will it go just over 30m or reach 40m seem like a line written if the movie would have ended in the very lower end of the first 13-15m tracking.
Why a movie like that would not reach 2.5x mutli and maybe have a shot to 50m, the question seem much more will it barely scrap 40m or will it get to 50m.
Yeah. Here's everything new opening between $17M and $15M since 2008 in September. The lowest was $39.3M. The highest was $55.7M.

What’s with BOMs report on A Simple Favour??
”now we’ll see if it either barely scrapes $30m or eventually reaches $40m”.
Theyre expecting a multiplier potentially as low as 1.8x? Wth.
September multipliers are on the lower side...but not that low. I mean, it's not even a sequel which would typically make it more first weekend frontloaded so it's hard to see a multiplier that low (1.8x). Viewer feedback isn't weak on it either so far.

Day 49
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation: 32 days to 90% of domestic gross (final result 37 days); 3.41 opening weekend to dom. gross multiplier (final result multiplier 3.51)
Mission: Impossible - Fallout: 31 days to 90% of current domestic gross; 3.49 opening weekend to current dom. gross multiplier
Great results for July sequels and similar performance numbers though Fallout has grossed more than its predecessor.

I like Cavill as Superman and Man of Steel despite a few issues that make it second to Wonder Woman, but I had to make my peace that Man of Steel 2 was very remote when they used up his appearances with the Batman v Superman and Justice League direction. Even Cavill's recent musing on the topic of his contract and Man of Steel 2 didn't move me otherwise.

Jurassic World 2 cranking out a 2.8x multiplier from June is way more impressive than Star Wars cranking out a 2.8x multiplier in December. The overall drop of JW2 domestically is similar to the foreign drop of Star Wars Episode 8 (~36% vs. 37%).

And how about those Mission: Impossible sequels? They sure do well beyond their openings. Great stats for sequels.
Ant-Man 2 has the best MCU sequel multiplier, but to be fair it was released in July which outside of December is one of the best months to release in to have a longer run beyond the opening while the previous highest sequel multiplier for the MCU was released in April (Winter Soldier). Since Infinity War was released in April, its multiplier as a sequel is also stronger than it appears on first glimpse.

Much like with Star Wars and other old movies, Box Office Mojo doesn't do a great job in breaking it down domestically (and for foreign re-releases it's even more difficult.)
