It would be better to have a strong hold off a 35-40 million opening than a 25-30 million though.
Agreed. Right now, I'm thinking it opens around the $35-45M range, and maybe a similar multiplier to Bullet Train so long as the word of mouth is good.

Audience score for the win, who the fuck cares what the critics say.
I've seen too many good to great films get shit scores from audiences to trust them over the critics.

RT is now 78% with 27 reviews (average rating 6.3/10).
Metacritic rating is 55/100 with 11 reviews.

This ain't getting a wider international release?
No. Prime Video bought a lot of the international rights.

Man. Some of you guys have seen a lot of movies. I've only seen 3 so far this year.
This is the extent of my social life, so that probably helps in my case.

Jordan, O'Connell, Lindo is a pretty strong cast so far. Can't wait to hear more.

Oppenheimer seems poised to Sweep the Oscars this Sunday. Only one of the majors it is up for I see it losing is best supporter actress. Emily Blunt was good, but I suspect the actress from Holdovers will win.
Randolph's been sweeping this awards season, so it feels like a dead cert that she'll take home the Oscar.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see American Fiction take Adapted Screenplay, but I don't want to say it's a lock yet; Oppenheimer might still have a shot yet.

A little conservative? Try a lot. It's doing way better than Miss Peregrine unless it is bad and if what Viewer Anon said up above is true it should do really well.
I don't want to get my hopes up yet just in case it underdelivers (fingers crossed it doesn't).
I'll definitely be adjusting it later on, though, and I do think if it turns out well enough it could easily be Burton's highest-grossing film since Alice in Wonderland, even if it doesn't come within $300 million of that film's gross.

I'm gonna be a little conservative in my prediction and say this grosses around the range of Miss Peregrine ($290-300M WW), but with a more even DOM/INTL split.
So long as the budget's not too high, that wouldn't be that bad for this.

I'm not so sure Jurassic keeps it's date unless it lands a director soon. They kinda put the cart before the horse with the way they announced it.
Oh, absolutely.
Universal should definitely delay it to 2026; do that and they'd probably have an easier time landing a director (or even winning back Leitch).

Also I want to nominate this film for Best Original Song already. Banger.
I hated the film overall, but I really love "Electric Energy". I kinda want DeBose to sing the next Bond song now.
