Well this was visually outstanding to look at. Really enjoyed it and liked that it did branch out a little not make it an exact carbon copy (which is like 60 minutes or so) Shame it's seemingly under performing.
I've noticed that CG elephants in films seem to look really good (Jungle Book, Legend of Tarzan, Dumbo, even that Netflix Mowgli). They're becoming the new digital primates.
My only mild complaint is that they should have at least giving Timothy the mouse (who has three scenes) a larger role than what it had. They could have even kept him silent.
Half expected the circus troupe to release the animals in Nightmare Island so they could EAT that creepy bald guy.
BRING ON LION KING
While I felt there were one or two flaws, I ultimately enjoyed it.
It is a shame it's underperforming, I suppose.
I'm more worried about the potential effect on Burton's career-he could go back to lower-budgeted films, become a gun-for-hire, or retire outright if the movie really sinks.

Or an unconventional choice like Hans Zimmer or James Newton Howard
I can't see Zimmer doing it unless Nolan's involved. Plus, looking at his 2020 schedule, he looks a little too busy.
Howard, maybe, so long as it's better than his work on Fantastic Beasts.

I absolutely love the footage. Fukanaga was a good choice. Looking forward to this!
I hope he brings in a good choice for composer too (nothing against Thomas Newman, because I liked the Skyfall score, but Spectre was a step down).
Maybe Daniel Pemberton, Alexandre Desplat, Howard Shore, or the return of David Arnold?

I'm not too surprised it's IMAX 70mm-Sandgren mostly shoots on film anyway.

The RT rating keeps going up, up into the skies. Best example of anti-gravity since Alita.
Just checked. It's at 53% as of me writing this.

Found the original source. It's a few days old, but presumably still relevant:

Unpopular opinion but maybe Disney should focus more on releasing original content than doing these obvious money grab remakes.
Ya know the kind of content that made Disney what it is today ie the animations that they’re remaking because they were classics. The kind of content like Toy Story, Wreck it Ralph, Frozen and Moana. All made huge bucks and yet were great because they were somewhat original stories (I know Frozen is based off of The Snow Queen). Disney obviously has the talent to create these fresh and new stories. And if there’s any studio who can get audiences into theaters based on name it’s Disney.
The Nutcracker and The Four Realms, The BFG, Tomorrowland and The Lone Ranger don't ring any bells?

Dumbo soars above 50% RT (and soon above $50M OW).
To 55%?
In your defence, the $50 million opening weekend is still likely (I should know-the reviews aren't stopping me from seeing it in this weekend).

Now it's 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, from 65 reviews.

We'll know this movie's shit when/if Armond White thinks it's good.

There's talk going round that the film's shooting in Norway this week.
This could just be the 2nd unit at work, and the April 6th date could be for the main cast.

So anyone UNDER 50 has watched the first one?
It's definitely silly/cheesy thanks to the passage of time, like most '80s movies, but I still thought it was fun, with a damn good soundtrack to boot.

Na. Wikipedia says that but there's no source.
Whatever it is, it's probably over $50 million.

Problem is it's a very niche audience this appeals to, and most general audience will have no desire to watch this. The star power will help this which Rush didn't have but I still can't see this doing too well. I wonder what the budget is, hope it can turn a profit.
The budget's around $100 million. Difficult, definitely.

Damn thought we were gonna get a trailer real soon. I'm fine with this move but November starts to get crowded by the end of the month. Terminator at the beginning of the month. Midway, Sonic which if it isnt trash could break out, Dr Sleep, then on the same week we have the new Paul Feig movie with Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding, then the weeks after have Frozen 2, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and then Knives Out. I feel like all these movies have the potential to breakout and eat up Ford v Ferrari. Really excited though
I can't see A Beautiful Day breaking out or seriously competing with this film. Last Christmas (the Paul Feig one) should do okay. Most people are expecting Terminator 6 to sink. I want Knives Out, depending on the budget, to do well (between Looper and Branagh's Orient Express). Frozen 2 is a slam dunk hit. I have no idea about Midway or Sonic. Dr Sleep should be fine if it's good.
Really, I think that so long as Disney-Fox doesn't mess up the marketing and the film itself appeals to audiences, FvF should hopefully do fine.

Is no one really mentioning TFA? The hype around that versus where it fell has to be a disappointment, or am I being crazy? I remember being afraid for Avatar, then it failed to even get past second place!
It had everything going for it, and sure it did well, but this is Star Wars we're talking about!
The Force Awakens is currently the highest-grossing film of all time in North America.

When does this start filming? Is Malek gonna be in it or not?
It starts filming on April 6. It was supposed to be earlier this month, but they pushed it back (and the release date) for Burns's rewrites.

It is notable that these three actors never worked with Nolan. In the past, Nolan always enjoyed to use those persons he already did business with. It could be a sign that this film will be very different from previous Nolan works.
Nolan will find a way to fit in Hardy, Murphy, or Caine somehow. Just wait.

Moonreaker has a great pre credit sequence, but after that it is one of the weakest Bond films. Trying to turn 007 into an outer space epic just did not work.
But A View To A Kill remains the worst Bond film. Almost nothing works. Christipher Walken as the main villain seemed like a great idea, but they even managed to mess that up.
Yeah. Bowie made the right choice saying no.

Is Nolan even capable of making an event movie, even if he tried, like, really hard?? His event movies were LAST DECADE (ten or more years ago)!!
I'm sure people said the same thing about George Miller before he made Fury Road.
And Dunkirk ticks enough boxes to be an event film.

Leave it to WB to choose Cassie when Barbara was an option. I would love to see Barbara in a movie. Outside of Black Widow what are the options coming up for female lead in WB or Marvel. What does the merger between Fox and Marvel open up realistically?
I think the DCEU's Batgirl film is meant to be for Barbara (Christina Hodson's doing the script and they're looking for a director).

According to Yahoo, they're thinking of looking at Scottish actors.
In which case, I'd go with Jack Lowden.
