    Lol What nonsense.

If you can't figure out why pushing the above narrative with a character like Joker could be problematic and lead to plenty of criticism, I don't know what to tell you.

    What nonsense lmao.

I've studied criminality and mental illness for years. You realize mental illness is criminalized? You realize people don't react kindly to those who receive the mental illness defence? Just to name a few because i know you're just ignore this now.

Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

And who should we push it with? There is no evidence and there will never be that the character Joker causes violence.

You must also think that GTA5 = real life violence too.

Good lord, maybe you are obtuse.

My point isn't about being afraid that this movie will inspire people to commit violence but about why this movie is receiving criticism that other movies in the genre have not. I'm not even on the "this movie is dangerous" train but that isn't to say the narrative this movie pushes isn't problematic. Todd Phillips opened the door to all kinds of political critique when he decided to portray Joker as a loser neglected by society. You want to be daring or edgy or try to make some political statement with a movie, well, you gotta take the bad with the good.

We live in a society lmao.

What narrative does it push? That it is wrong for society to neglect people who are "losers"? To show that such callousness can lead to further wrongs? Jesus christ. You realize there are people in this world who have severe mental disorders like one arthur Fleck and are completely disregarded by society? Is this not a story one should make and spread awareness for?

Oh wait. The discourse is already that the severely mentally ill are a threat to society.

In today's world, violence can strike anywhere.

A few thousand peoples working in their offices in NYC got killed not that long ago...…...

Welcome to the real world, pal.

Thanks pal. Didn't realize violence had become so normalized. Next time I see guy in full in military gear, I won't freak out because that's the real world we live in.

Just because it happens, doesnt mean I have to like it. But then again I am Canadian and not American where violence has become a normal thing.

This movie is not even released yet, but it already proves that people's stupidity reached extreme levels in 2019, at least in US because of drastically different reaction to it in the rest of the world.

Just imagine walking into a theatre and boom a military guy strapped with an assault rifle. A self-fulfilling prophecy at this point, hope I'm wrong though.

If one can't feel safe in movie theaters, a place of escapism, then where can they feel safe? Glad I'm Canadian (though that's still not saying much).

P.s. i would upvote your comments, but im out of reactions today!

In all honesty the latest controversial Joker headlines connecting it to US Military troops and FBI make me laugh very loudly, especially when I imagine tanks/military vehicles flooding the streets because of the fricking movie's release. This movie is already cinema's treasure, nothing will ever top this insanity and the movie is still more than a week from being released. Joker would be incredibly proud of it, he couldn't even dream about this.

Lmao people acting like the Joker actaully exists.

And thats so right, Joker would love this attention and total chaos.

It's not false, you can see the lack of empathy in many replies to just this tweet alone:

    Highlights include:

    https://twitter.com/nomura118/status/1176508598844833792?s=19

It is false information. The guy never even mentioned the Joker, nor was joker even in TDKR.

And you expect empathy from twitter? One is a troll tweet. And dont tell me to read the other replies. One scroll down and I can see marvel stans trolling.

Joker, 11 days before release,17% of the market

    62 showings for OD | 14.742 seats available | 730 tickets sold

Excellent presales for the Joker, outpacing Spiderman FFH by 10% and could target Captain Marvel final PS or maybe even more. Also, on the ground I sense a lot of excitement about the movie. I expect great things from its BO.

    Thats hot.

Yeah, we can’t all have “adult” handles like The Chad DC, now can we? You don’t understand what a username is, so that’s a problem.

You don’t know what a threat is, which makes you pretty ignorant of the law. That’s a problem. It completely went over your head that when I told you to watch Avengers: Endgame that I wasn’t being serious; I was just ribbing you.  So that’s a problem too. You aren’t man enough to admit you insulted me when I called you out on it (even though anyone can read what you wrote) so that’s an issue too.

You seem to be a guy who doesn’t know a lot and doesn’t understand a lot. My advice: don’t give anyone else advice. People like you are the ones that need advice. Think about my advice.

I can't speak on specifics since I haven't seen the movie or read any reviews. But you've pointed out one of the big reasons why people aren't objecting to Hustlers. It's essentially a heist movie, one of the few which centers women of color. That in itself makes comparisons to Joker far less compelling.

And even if this one gives its protagonists the moral high ground, it still doesn't carry the same weight or perceptions as Joker. The latter hits on a very big issue and for some, doesn't do enough to subvert its very real narrative.

    Good joke.

Key word some. You are basing your entire argument on the back of reviewers who do not have an objective review of the movie.

I agree that the Joker deals with difficult and sensitive matter, but by most legitimate accounts, they handle it well. I think we can put this discussion away and discuss it when we all watch the movie. Otherwise we are just quoting reviewers who may or may not be right!

Why would you think I worship Disney? You don’t even know me. You’re the one calling me “grandpa” and threatening violence. I was just correctly pointing out  that Disney is the one who will either re-release Avatar or they won’t. Getting a life is an appropriate response to some random dude who is making crazy assumptions and trying to insult me and failing miserably.

    Thinks watching endgame is productive.

Champions the movie's box office like a fanboy.

    Calls himself Walt Disney.

But no you don't worship disney.

You need to stop getting defense and changing the narrative. Threatening violence lmao. I thought I was just an internet tough guy? Now you're threatned? How would I smack you through the internet, didn't you say this?

I don't need to insult you, everytime you reply you do it on your own.

Good day my man. Think about my advice.

Craig is the detective, and in whoddunits the detective tends to be the charecter with the most amount of screen time.

You really need this explained to you?

Lmao the guy that advocates for everyone being non-toxic is the most toxic one.

I am not following along with knives out, but craig appears as a supporting character according to the thread. This was the original discussion. Please stop replying to me if every time you are going to not remain relevant to the discussion. Like this is the fourth time you quoted and responded me totally out of context.

You’re an Avatar fanboy crying because your favorite movie isn’t number 1 all-time at the box office anymore. You come off as angry and bitter.  Fanboying seems to be your life. My advice is move on with your life, or better yet, get a life.

    ☹️

Actually not an avatar fanboy, just a DC stan. Just pointed out something that might happen, you know to create hype for a sequel to 10 year old movie. Dont know why you assumed I was, my profile and posts clearly indicate that I only stan DC (maybe you assumed so because it fit your narrative).

In reality you're the one coming off angry and bitter (see: "get a life"). I would take my advice and find something more productive than worshiping disney.

Really hope I didn't hit a nerve (I say this sincerely).

I love the MCU but they need to stop undercutting serious moments with jokes. I cringed through out the entire Thor arch in End Game. His pain was real and instead of treating it as such it was used as a punchline.  I'm surprised they didn't crack a joke during Iron Mans funeral lol.

First of all let me just say thank you for watching the video and engaging in a civilized discussion.

As much as I dislike whedon as well(age of ultron hulk and BW plus josstice league), Feige and the mcu have failed to emotionally deliver on those moments that made the first avengers magical. Even the part where Cap and Iron man argue and cap tells him to put on the suit, while whedon undercuts the argument, it works. Other times they are afraid of emotional, which kills the movies for me (like aunt may is cool with peter being spiderman vs in spiderman ps4 when may dies).

Just wish they would get more emotionally invested in these moments.

LMAO! We have an internet tough guy here. How are you going to smack me, genius? Instead of wasting your time making weak threats that you can’t back up, you should do something productive, like watching Avengers: Endgame.

    Tupac quote first of all.

Second. Did you just suggest that watching endgame is something productive? Jesus take the wheel. Oh my god. I cant. You cant be real. You cant stan marvel/disney this much. My god.

Bro honestly theres more to life than these movies. You can't be this blind my man. Honestly even watching TDK isn't that productive and I will stan that movie to death. Is there entertainment? Sure. But there's way more to this world than believing these movies are productive use of time. Dont be like this.

Third. Find something more than Disney. Fanboying is a passion but it cant drive your life (and you comments suggest it drives yours).

You sound so bitter and angry. Today is a great day. The number 1 grossing movie of all-time today is Avengers: Endgame.  Now go back under your troll bridge and cry some more. You can check back tomorrow to see if Avengers: Endgame is still the champ.

Again with the vanilla comments. If you gonna come at me, do better. Cant waste my time with your grandpa rants.

Get off endgame's dick and bring some heat brotha. Otherwise shut the fuck up before you get smacked the fuck up.

I guess there's a difference between robbing (mostly bad) rich people in a selfish robin hoodesque sort of way, and murdering folks because woe is me. Not sure I'd call empowerment the point of Hustlers, though. Maybe early on, but can't really talk about it in this thread since it'd be spoilers.

Yet by all legitimate accounts, Joker never tells the viewer to sympathize or feel sorry for Joker. The movie wants you to condemn his increasing violent behaviour.

Anarchy isn't the point of Joker. Showing the consequences, albeit radical, of society's callousness is the point. Ironically, negative reviewers have overlooked this point and...just treated the movie with total... callous🤔.

Probably because we live in a society... 🤡😂

Honestly though be careful insulting incels or discussing them around here, lots of the long time posters here seem to take it not so well >.>

The crazy thing about Hustlers is like we are we trying to legitimatize stripping? So 19 year old girls can feel empowered while they strip to pay their tuition?

I know "we live in a society" is a meme, but honestly we've come to the point where people think we should empower stipprers rather than recognizing the job is a product of class and social inequality. What female or male would realistically ever want to be a stripper if there were legitimate opportunities of econmic stability?

    Sorry for the politics.
