  1. "IMAX further reports that Tenet has shown positive signs of a lengthy theatrical run with strong pre-sales spread out well beyond opening weekend. The time-bending film is expected to see stronger than normal midweek grosses and shallower week-to-week drops, as audience moviegoing habits adapt to the current situation."

Hopefully this was true, I really hope it can reach 4x multiplier in many of Europe markets. WOM isn't in Interstellar or Inception level I guess but repeat viewing and lack of competition will surely help. Outside of China and US, Japan box office seems already back to normal. So hopefully it can join China, US Germany, UK, and France as a potential +$20m market

Looks like French just ignore their Covid-resurgence. I was hoping for higher German number through, given their covid-19 situation has been tamed

Actually with those 4 big market made $23m this week and if we assume that Spain and Italy made $5.5m combined. Also with probably $2-2.5m from Australia. Then there are still $21m from rest of the world, which is very good given Covid still run rampant all over the world.

Europe also will probably get around 3-4x multiplier even if the WOM is average or only good enough. Repeat viewing and lack of competition surely will help. There are also still Russia, Japan, Mexico and Brazil for more big markets. I think there are still chance for +$450m, it depends much on US and China though.

  3. When this movie announced, I really really look forward for it's performance here and China for obvious reasons. When inception on 2010 already got $42m and Interstellar with $72m . Even Dunkirk got $22m here.

The way this movie probably only will make $15m max really hurt so much. I know Covid and typhoon impact it but still...

Tenet’ Advance Ticket Sales Besting ‘Dunkirk’ & ‘Interstellar’ In US, UK & Australia – Movio Insights

    https://deadline.com/2020/08/tenet-advance-ticket-sales-us-uk-australia-christopher-nolan-1203024015/

dunkirk was HUGE in uk so thats good news

Probably unlikely in US as that ticket only count with early access. $ 30-35m opening should be already good in this situation.

In Australia, Dunkirk made 4.7m OW and Interstellar did 3.6m. In UK, Dunkirk made 13m OW and Interstellar with 8.5m.

2.5m-3m OW in Australia and 7-8m in UK should already be good imo. Let's see if it can goes higher.

    Paris Intra-muros 2 PM

    EFFACER L'HISTORIQUE : 1186

    THE NEW MUTANTS  : 520

DANS UN JARDIN QU'ON DIRAIT ETERNEL : 313

    CITOYENS DU MONDE : 172

    SPYCIES : 122

    IRREVERSIBLE (rerelease) : 54

    POMPEII : 52

      Reveal hidden contents

A bit of a letdown from the 9 AM.

Abysmal for New Mutants. Not even one fourth of what Dark Phoenix did. 3.5/5 rating on Allociné with less than 80 ratings on Allociné. Ok number for Effacer l'historique, but looks like it will be more Paris-loaded than expected.

So we have to wait until weekend then to get the number then.

Tenet seems like stable in 4.1 rating in Allociné, is that good ? Also how is the response/reaction in social media ?

saw twice today. personally I had no big interest but still enjoyed better than I expected. I didn't mind the long running time at all too. even with second viewing. lol

I do think it lacks the wow factor, both visual and concept wise.

John David Washington will get nothing out of this. not because he was bad but script wise. already seeing lots of "why him?"  comments.

kinda shame considering having no famous black actor as this big film was huge bold choice.

How is the wom in there and from the theatre response ? Rating in naver seems good for now right ? Some really hate it I think because overcomplicate plot.

  7. Presale for tomorrow in cgv seems very low right ? Maybe only 60-70k for tomorrow. More on the weekend maybe ?

If it gets 137k, 60k, 90k, 200k and 190k like MI:6 multiplier for first five days then only $5.2m + $800k for preview. So $6m then. Really hope it can increase more on the weekend.

15-20 is where I've been thinking for a while. Definitely seems like it got its wings clipped from the covid resurgence.

Seems like restriction in Seoul really taking big effect into it. Seoul probably at least account half of SK theater. I just hoping it can get on the upper end.

    lifetime?:dunce:

Yeah lifetime, don't know if lack of competitor in next few weeks gonna affect that but so far I think that's the target.

For Tenet seems like it needs to have good run in Europe, fortunately OD in many Europe big market is very good. Just hope that it will have good rating from audience in China. If China can deliver then maybe over 400m finish still likely.

Egg isn't all that encouraging. Just 91%.

Yup, don't think it's bad but still good I guess. Review in Naver has many 9 or 10 but those 1 or 2 reviews that drag the number down.

Seems like for some they really like and love the action and the spectacle. Few of those who rate 1 or 2 seems hate it because they think the movie is over complicate many things. Need to see if many are curious to see or many like to see this again.

For now I guess $15m is the most realistic finish with $20m is the target.
