  1. if it isnt, it should be considered unethical to write about kisses without mentioning if they were on the cheek or the mouth, one is a story the other isn't; it seems like a producer claimed they were just on the cheek, if thats the case, then the guardian seriously sucks
  2. I dont know how to make sense out of pre-godfather grosses; was the original apes movie a big enough deal for someone to come along 40 years later and propose a 9-movie series? obviously it was, but does it make sense that it was?
  3. had a dream that I woke up to this having a 31 on metacritic making a more serious prediction; unless this is very good (which might very well be the case), it feels like an automatic shoo-in for a 71 on mc
  4. coster said the whole saga is 11 hours long, so just part 1 weird release dates are cool and all, but I can see part 2's growth being severely limited by the lack of a streaming/digital release for part 1 before it releases dont think you can really do much in terms of double features for 3 hour long movies
  5. dont know what they were feeding illumination employees during production of minions 2 (a masterpiece of the little people genre), but this looks doesn't look too good
  6. as far as I'm aware the only thing special about the original strangers is that it made 9x its budget, apart from that, is there anything that makes it "deserving" of this treatment (a movie every 4 months)? yeah yeah, deserves got nothing to do with it, but why I spend this gimmick on something as seemingly as unremarkable as the strangers franchise Or is the unremarkableness the point and this is just more of an experiment than anything else
  7. in regards to the weirdness factors, its written and illustrated by westerners, so I assume it's just going to be a normal lotr story but with a slight anime-ish look similar to the scott pilgrim show now that I think about it, though not looks-wise of course
  8. no way any of the ads mention the term "anime", so its totally dependent on whether people associate the Castlevania art style with anime or not I wager most of the GE will assume its not; doesn't mean they'll watch it, but I dont see why this should perform much worse than a "normal" animated lotr spin-off maybe an animated lotr spin-off has a ceiling of 40 million, but that's another question
  9. dont see the point in comparing this to an anime movie, if it flops it'll be for other reasons; if there is a precedent to compare it to, it'd have to be the an animated spinoff to a live-action franchise, but imagine if what if came out in 2021 as a theatrical release the clone wars pilot movie did 35 million domestic despite terrible reviews, just being a bunch of eps stitched together and little to no marketing, I think something like that is the floor; considering the release date and if its well received, I could see it doing 100 million the only anime thing about is the animation studio, and even then (according to what I've read), it just looks like Castlevania
  10. theres absolutely no way a 120 million budgeted American movie doesnt find a us distributor, it might not be under the terms coppola wanted, but the possibility that it simply doesn't get a US release doesnt exist
  11. could be fun and though I do expect P2 to open to over 100, I'm not sure whether easter weekend hurts or helps my family would never go to the theater on easter Sunday, not even for THE Jesus movie
  12. https://productionlist.com/production/passion-christ-resurrection/ began filming 3 days ago, dont know if it'll be ready for easter 2025, if its not, then it'll probably be 2026 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenit_News_Agency those guys claim its release date is april 18th, doubt they'd fake it, but id rather a trade report it
  13. were it not for 2 very negative reviews, the fall guy's Metacritic score would be maverick-tier, yet audience reactions in no way reflect that weird movie for there to be a critic-audience divide, did critics give it a pass because its a movie about movies?
  14. nah, not clear enough the movie might be a different story, but one can easily come out of the trailer not knowing its mcu-adjecent
  15. the ant-man head is a good point, I must not have been paying enough attention, though some of the audience might just see it as a meaningless 4th wall break If Loki really is going to be the big connection, then I cant see this doing too much for the mcu in general; doubt aspects of the loki tv show are recognizable enough for that
  16. do we know in what way this movie is going to link back to the mcu? can't really take advantage of any goodwill this movie might create if people arent fully aware that its a mcu movie 4th wall breaks wont cut it, and I doubt its only going to be "Deadpool gets transported to the mcu in the final scene" type thing
