Good update, hopefully this keeps on rising.

Going to be traveling over the long weekend so the next update for this, Bad Boys, and likely the Watchers is next Thursday. Numbers for next week's anime movie on Monday (T-3)

Keeps chugging along, comps will start converging soon... where? We shall see how backloaded this is.

I had planned to give updates for DxW, The Watchers, and a Quiet Place Day 1... but this Timberwolves loss has me down bad tonight. The school year, ending very soon, will make a lot easier for me, so I will be more consistent then. Thanks for understanding!

Obviously the biggest outlier here is Equalizer, but that is also probably the best comp... tough to say with a release like this where we don't know just how backloaded it will be

I am pretty sure Demon Slayer underperformed here, and I am inclined to go with my more recent data. I'l go with $1.2 Million, +/- 0.2, but really shooting darts here. More useful for filing this data away for future anime comps. Updates for all upcoming releases tomorrow!

I know exactly what theater that is because I track it too lol. They sometimes block out that last row in that particular amphitheater, as well as 5 other seats (maybe broken or what not). The actual number sold there in those three showings is 11 seats

Moreover, the reason I prefer tracking “by hand” (other than my total lack of knowledge around scrapers) is because of things like these, over time you figure out what theaters block off what seats in what rooms and what not. Just make note of it @Relevation because that particular theater does it quite a bit in different rooms as well :)

Something must be up with Garfield at one of my theaters, as the back row is completely clear out in all 3 standard showings with not much else going on. Not sure if this is a strong preference for the back row, or if these seats are blocked out.

    Average: $5.41 Million

    About that good pace @Porthos...

Not a great update, down against every comp. This is also a movie that is highly overindexing in MTC1 and Alamo (only 28% sold in other chains is pretty low). That is most comparable to... BoSS, which is (not) coincidentally the lowest comp value I have. Right now with this pace and thinking about those variables I think $4.5-5 Million is a good target, but I will be looking closest at that comp moving forward.

    Minnesota Previews:

    Furiosa (T-1):

    0.8x BoSS: $4.57 Million (17 theaters)

    0.65x MI7 (TUE): $4.55 Million (17 theaters)

    Average: $4.59 Million

Removed Kingdom as a comp because I didn't track EA on its T-0 so it doesn't make much sense to keep it, and also because it seems walk-ups will be the opposite story. So while the average doesn't tell the whole story, it still dropped significantly against every comp. The MTC1 over-index is crazy too. No update from me tomorrow, so based on pace, I will go with a final prediction of $4.3 Million, +/- 0.3.

    4.17x The Marvels: $27.49 Million

    2.14x Dune Part 2*: $24.14 Million

*combing day 1 of EA sales and day 1 of previews sales, which I know is cheating a little bit, but it doesn't make much sense to do it any other way either

Probably will just update once a week on Thursdays for the next 30 or so days, this is a truly annoying pre-sales window they're giving us here

This could have a good late surge since EA has been sucking away some pre-sales up until this morning, so let's see if this bounces up a little. Not impressed at all at this stage though, not seeing the break-out some are anticipating.

All of these comps had been on sale for longer, so those will go up, with the exception of Civil War, which went on sale at T-18, so that'll go down. This feels like a walk-up movie so it's hard to find some good comps here, welcome to any ideas

Speaking of DP3 showings.... Pro tip for those who use Fandango (and aren't using some form of scrapers).

Fandango's date strip (where one can jump ahead to a future date to see showtimes) only goes about 60 days in advance, more or less.  That means one either has to use the direct Deadpool and Wolverine landing page and hope you get all of the theaters you want to track, or you have to manually adjust the url date as seen in the following links:

    https://www.fandango.com/95814_movietimes?date=2024-07-25

    https://www.fandango.com/95814_movietimes?date=2024-07-25&filter=my-theaters

with whatever zip code that is local to your (tracking) area and/or your saved list of theaters.

The date strip will align soon enough, but just thought I should mention this workaround until it does so.

Lmao it just keeps getting better 🙄

(thanks this is very helpful and you just saved me a headache!)

The two comps that are most helpful, Wish and Trolls (not PLF, EA on a weekend, family movies) are both pointing to a lot lower than average, so I'm inclined to give those a lot more weight. I'm thinking $500-600k for EA. Just hope it gets reported tbh
