It’s not going to get C+ Cinemascore legs domestically. That’s Morbius/Fan4stic levels of bad with 9%-15% RT score. Worst it will do is fall into the same B range as Green Lantern, BVS, and Catwoman with B. Flash only got B with 60%-70% RT cause they spent $200M marketing it as the best superhero film ever, and it wasn’t even the best one released in June 2023. I’d expect Marvels to fall into the same 50-70 range and get B+.

Can’t really blame them given the presales are pointing to a Morbius level disaster opening weekend gross regardless of quality. Peter is still physically present in all the Miles stuff and plays a role. Iron Heart, Shuri Panther, Sam Cap, etc. are just straight replacing the originals cause they’re dead. People don’t like that.

A Team up movie featuring a bunch of nameless heroes would have flopped. A show featuring a team up of a bunch of nameless heroes would have run into the same problem they’re having now. People don’t want to spend 7 hours watching 7 episodes of their 5/10 show to understand the movies. There’s no way the budget would be anything less than $200M for this hypothetical project.

It made $381M domestic instead of $190M and became 10th for the year for disc sales from its September debut alone. https://www.mediaplaynews.com/spider-man-across-the-spider-verse-led-disc-sales-in-september-super-mario-bros-holds-year-to-date-lead/ Google has it as #1 right now as the most searched action movie. Its not going to match the first because the 2’nd was significantly bigger, and It’s too early to have its precise streaming numbers as it hasn’t been a week, but it’s doing fine on the ancillary market.

They aren't good at live action Spider-Man. Amazing Spider-Man 1, 2, Morbius, Venom 1, Venom 2. Doubt Kraven and Madame Web will be any better. Much easier to just let Disney do all the work for them and reap the profits. They will probably only take him back if Disney makes a poorly received film with him, or a flop. They can do that on their own, so the partnership loses all meaning.

Doubt it, but not impossible. Venom did $200M twice during peak Superhero hype with really bad movies. The third will come in well under $200M. Cap 4 will at least do $100M+ domestic (I think). The only variables is whether or not Spider-Man is in it, it’s finally actually good, and whether Thunderbolts bombs or all time bombs.

It’s not just cause the Marvels is tanking. The whole upcoming slate is cartoonishly bad. Echo, Agatha, Wonder Man, Iron Heart TV Shows. 50+ year old Ali Blade, Bucky, Sam Wilson Movies. If a sequel to a 1.1B MCU movie featuring a preexisting Avenger is doing this bad how bad are the sidekick movies and tv shows they green lighted like they were throwing darts at a board going to do? There’s no way they survive all those bombs.
