  1. Too much. MCU will long since have been a dead zombie franchise by the time they get to another Avengers movie. After Deadpool they’ve got: Falcon America: Brave New World. Thunderbolts Blade with 50+ year old Ali. Iron Heart TV Show Echo TV Show There’s no way they maintain enough interest for $700M for the next 3 or 4 years with all this content about D list characters nobody cares about.
  2. Always destined to flop. It’s a Sony live action superhero film with probably like $80M budget and will do $100M WW with 30% RT Score. It’ll be a passing footnote that won’t get any attention.
  3. They spent more on TV ads for The Marvels then they did Endgame. It got plenty of marketing push. Marvels - $27.6M https://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/391015/the-marvels-hits-franchise-low-with-47m-start.html Endgame - $20.7M https://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/335168/endgame-hits-massive-box-office-records-with-mo.html GOTG3 - $21.1M https://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/385135/summer-movies-rising-disneys-guardians-of-the-g.html
  4. No amount of vague noncommittal references to Spider-Man is going to be enough to save this.
  5. It’s the movies moreso than the TV shows. Those naturally reach a much bigger audience, and have more viewership, so quality is more important. Tying them together (Wandavision with Multiverse of Madness, The Marvels with Wandavision, Ms.Marvel, Secret Invasion), and probably Cap 4 with Falcon and the Winter Solider, etc.) expecting large portions of the audience to have watched the shows is where they dragged down the movies and brand. If they were kept entirely separate like the Netflix era the TV shows being mid wouldn’t matter. The movies themselves have had an observable dip in quality. MCU had one B range Cinemascore for 15 years in Thor. In the last 2 years alone from 2021-2023 they’ve had 4 in Multiverse of Madness, The Marvels, Thor love and Thunder, and Eternals. 2 of those being linked to D+ shows.
  6. Spider-Man being a Young Avenger is weird. He’s too popular for the B squad. They should scrap the idea altogether tbh. This will bomb no matter what shape it takes, since people don’t care about these characters.
  7. Yep. Batman and Spider-Man will be the only survivors of the CBM collapse, especially the latter mostly cause they have a presence outside of just movies. Spider-Man was 3rd most popular Halloween costume. Spiderverse was 10th best selling Disc for the year from September sales alone. 3rd at the domestic box office for 2023. The video game sold 5 million copies in 10 days. Spidey and his amazing friends for the toddlers is on its fourth season. Similar presence for Batman outside of movies. It’s the rest of them that are screwed.
  8. Ant-Man 3. When Ant-Man killed the Kang that all Kang's feared I knew they had no idea what they were doing anymore. It was predicted to bomb since it was announced. It was then predicted to end up being one of the biggest bombs of all time as soon as tickets went on sale. Fast forward a month later, it did indeed end up as one of the biggest bombs of all time. Not much to get crazed about.
  9. The brand is a absolute dumpster fire. The last iteration of the character was poorly received and in 2 of the worst CBM's during the peak of Superhero craze in BVS and Justice League. The character historically has never done gangbusters at the box office outside of 50 year old Superman 1 and Superman 2. Superhero fatigue is easily observable over a year before it even comes out. Try Batman begins numbers if its actually good lol.
  10. They said it will never happen because they already make disgusting amounts of money from having to do nothing but keep GTA Online up. And that was a couple days ago lol. https://money.yahoo.com/two-boss-says-grand-theft-195447114.html
  11. Does Deadpool humor even work in the MCU? Disney won’t let him say Shuri, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man suck, and the MCU is (currently) a dumpster fire like he did with the Fox Men.
  12. Their current line-up is Ms. Marvel, Shuri Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Photon, Kate Bishop, Iron Heart, Sam Wilson Cap, Bucky, Photon, Shang-Chi/Thor/Strange who will have last been in a movie 5 years ago by that point while 2/3 were poorly received, America Chavez, Dork Hulk, She-Hulk, and the Ant-Man family. And the only character they have that could carry the film by being the lead Avenger is Spider-Man, whose owned by a rival studio. Which won’t end well if they do it, and won’t end well if they don’t. I’m not sure where there this confidence comes.
  13. She’ll just be a cameo only character until she dies or gets her powers sucked out by Rogue.
  14. With those postrak scores it looks like MCU is a millennial franchise now, and they are slowly aging out to become the new old people that don’t go to theaters anymore demographic. Video Game movies are going to be driven by Gen Z, and drive the theaters going forward. Also probably doesn’t help to set up all your heroes to be replaced by females for the male skewing franchise. (Kate, Shuri, Love, Iron Heart, Cassie, etc). And have zero easy identifiable overarching story for the last 4.5 years in your shared universe.
  15. It will flop but if it actually turns out good and builds torwards something it’ll might be worth it. They have to make audiences care about these new/legacy characters. Its not like the first Cap, Thor, Hulk, etc. did gangbusters.
  16. Disney would never willingly let Sony hold their whole universe hostage like that lol.
  17. Probably? It did $1.9B without China, and I don’t think Spider-‘Man is any less popular today than 2021. Cartoon Spider-Man that isn’t even Peter Parker is the only CBM other than GOTG3 that did good this year.
  18. Cause WB promised it was the best superhero film ever and under delivered, while Disney acted like Marvels was unwatchable, and over performed with something mediocre.
  19. Damn my 50-70 RT score with B+ cinemascore prediction from 10 minutes ago aged like milk.
  20. Yeah for real. Super pathetic. They spent probably like $600M promoting the character in media and she does not have a success to her name. Multiple cancelled comic series, flop $200M show, flop $200M movie, flop AAA game. So she should probably be relegated to supporting roles going forward. But no totally. The criticism is totally just cause she’s Pakistani. 🙄
