I am thinking something like this for the weekend
2.66M
12M
13M
9M
36-37M for the weekend
That's Oblivion's number....and that one never gets into the century club

I agree. Evening will be stronger and a number around 120-125 mill is in the cards..
65 mill ish OW.. Higher than DOM
If extrapolated to OS total? $500M to $600M total? Most major OS markets see 20% to 30% drop except Russia

Early estimates 234-238 mln RUB or $4.18-4.24 mln.
82% increase from PotC4. 87% market share.
Should gross at least 950-1000 mln RUB this weekend. Most likely will beat Deadpool (964.4 mln RUB).
are you sure of your source??

Looks like POTC5's WW will be under POTC4's OS number...

that's good for Alien ?
Still hope for $100M
With Pacific Rim's (similar opening & genre) multiplier of 2.7, A:C may just make it to 100M
Prometheus has about 2.5 multiplier.

Paramount now only has Transformers & Mission Impossible franchises to keep them afloat. Why the severed leg? Why?

The severed leg scene just took me out.

I had been thinking $45M, but after seeing that AVP adjusts to $55M...plus after seeing Fox's brilliant marketing job, I've been hoping for this to go higher. Looks like this will be a fun one to track. Those $35M predicts can die.
My thoughts exactly

It never had the same buzz of Promtheus, I remember that Prometheus was the most hyped original movie of 2012. Taking off 3D from Alien was the worst decision that they could have made, considering how big the 3D share of Prometheus was.
Fox should put in that 3D engagements.

How so?
Prometheus opened at $6.7m in Australia, Alien at $3.1m.
UK: $9.5m x $6.4m
France: $6.6m x $4.5m
Spain: $4.2m x $1.9m
Mexico: $3.1m x $2.4mIt decreased pretty much in most of Prometheus' major markets, I would say that it is looking to a total just barely above $200m without China. Unless it over-perform in China, I can't see it surpassing $220m OS. And I doubt it will surpass $100m DOM with an OW under $40m.
From the trailer alone, I seem to be missing the feeling of the grand mystery of the Prometheus. Looks like a generic Alien sequel

Before opening domestically on May 19, 20th Century Fox debuted Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant in 34 overseas markets, where the film grossed $42 million. The film is #1 in 19 markets, including South Korea ($7.2M), UK ($6.4M), France ($4.5M), Australia ($3.1M), Spain ($1.9M), and Hong Kong ($1.8M). Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.
Prometheus opened with $10M in UK...current exchange rate make it more or less equal?
Should do better in Russia.

I thought that with Dunkirk as well being a story that the North American audience isn't exactly familiar with, but their marketing has been brilliant so far and I think it is going to be an event film for them.
Dunkirk overperforming is almost a given. Strong trailer. Who cut it?

Given that it is from WB, I don't find it surprising at all. They are the guys that bet BIG and fail BIGGER.
They did more than Ok with Matrix, Harry Potter, all Nolan big budget titles, and Hobbit Trilogy. Get over-ambitious with Arthur, don't keep the production in check maybe?

I think Guardians should be good for $50M. I'm not convinced about how strong Alien is going to open.
Marketing is bad in UK?

I hope Ridley decides to leave the franchise alone after this. Some people may still enjoy it but it's clear that there aren't really any more interesting directions to take the universe.
There are 2 more sequels after Covenant
