How about that little indie flick called Guardians of Galaxy vol 2? Above or below expectations?

Fortunately not for the quality
I find that Marvel movies get better with more fluid storytelling, better jokes, less cheesy stuff as more movies are being put into production and released.

A huge potential market there. Same population as US and their developing economy can only go up.

Deadline says industry projection for F8 is $230M but a $20M 3rd weekend with a $193M cumulative should allow F8 to speed through $240M-$250M.

These are the adjusted for inflation domestic grosses for the FF franchise:
1. $199m
2. $168m
3. $76m
4. $176m
5. $227m
6. $250m
7. $363m
F8 will not only fall below F7 & F6, but also below F5 if inflation is taken into account.
They should go back to their roots of street racing.

I think that beating Elsa is gone. Boss Baby stopped it from reaching 500M dom and it probably won't do Elsa numbers in Japan since animated musicals are more acceptable than live action ones. But it's a stunning run nonetheless.
After Disney's record in 2016 and how Maleficent & Cinderella proved that live-action business is the new business for Disney.
I think a carefully packaged blockbuster with bells & whistles like Beauty is a preordained smash hit.
$800M is a lock and $1B WW is hardly a surprise. A surprise is $1.5B

They could have tightened the cast, excised some extraneous scenes, staged the ice-chase a little better but the insanity surrounding a submarine chasing a bunch of cars including a Lamborghini is probably enough for the GA. That zombie car scene is go-for-broke insane but that is nothing like it in movies.

Fingers crossed it reaches 600M OS this weekend or on Monday. 600M before japan is crazy.
Not that crazy. Civil War, Zootopia, Jungle Book, each made more than $600M internationally last year.
