Much like Split, the movie lives on its lead's performance. Portman clearly did character study, and her voice, while not perfect, is so freaking close to the real JK. The film had an interesting feel to it... it was different. Not always in a good way. The score was interesting, but misplaced and really drew me out of the film a lot. A solid B from me.

So, can anyone explain why they are predicting MT to have a sub 5% drop on Sunday? Am I missing something?

The way he was able to embody each character simply with his facial expression... amazing. He could change just his face and you knew exactly what character we were about to get. It really was an impressive thing to watch.

I don't know why but every time I see a new post in this thread, I expect it to be news that the movie has been pulled from release. Eh.
Same. I wasn't expecting a full pull, but at least a push back so they can try to do a reset. It will be interesting to see just how poorly it does next weekend.

Okay... what??? Does this mean it links to Unbreakable? Are we getting a MNS cinematic universe now?
movie was okay, I'd give it a solid C+... or a 6/10
performance was fantastic, the movie just lacked something and got almost boring at times.

About to catch split! Theaters about a third full, pretty good for this time of day here. I hoping it's as good as reviews make it seem! I really want to root for M Night to make a comeback.

Wtf? I mean... sure I'm interigued but... what?

It looks worse than I was hoping, but watching it, brought back all those Saturday morning memories from being a kid and now I want to see it. It literally looks just as bad as the show was, just with poor CGI instead of giant costumes. lol

13-14 number for BBM is about the typical start for a 3-Day January horror film, so I would say it's about right in line with where it needed to be to not be considered a failure.
Monster Trucks did better than it had any right to do... it's not another Delgo so, there is always that to look fondly on.

This is tracking similar to The Forest, an OW above $10m would be a solid start. I wonder how bad reviews are going to be.
I would put money on sub 10% at RT... average around 2.5-3... But then again, Monster Trucks is at 28% and rising... so miracles do happen.

This is actually a really interesting read and makes me want to revisit The Happening to take it all in... hm...
and The Village is wonderful. Less so after the first viewing, but I still enjoy how well it was all made. The music, cinematography... Jesus. It's a beautiful film.
