  1. Gonna get my No Way Home 2 cents in before the numbers start coming in. Apologies to those desperate for a change in topic.

No Way Home is one of my favorite MCU films. I just love it so much. Now for those all pointing out the flaws in plotting and clunkiness and questionable character choices, I won't argue any of those. But despite all that, I really cared about the main trio in this movie. I cried twice which is the only time that has happened to me in an MCU film and so despite every brain criticism, I put more positive weight in the fact that it touched my heart. It really lets the emotional moments breathe. Holland devastated in the rooftop and then Mary Jane and Ned just coming and comforting him no questions asked. Their final goodbyes. I think every emotional moment just really resonated with me.

Now of course if it didn't work for others that is perfectly fine. I just wanted to share why I think the movie is great and why I love it.

Im afraid of All Quiet on the Western Front winning anything. People outside Germany could come to the bafflingly wrong conclusion that we germans can actually make good movies. While All Quiet is indeed a very good movie, it is in no way a true representation of german film culture. Understand please, that we SUCK at making movies despite All Quiet.

I have seen 2 German movies. All Quiet on the Western Front and Downfall and one TV series Dark so you are 3 out of 3 for me so far 😀

It is because it changed people’s habits.

For a lot of films definitely. When I glance at the box office from ten years ago I see so many films that would not gross 100 million today. But for a must see at the cinema blockbuster like Avatar. I don't think the non covid timeline would be any different. A healthy China and 2.7 Billion total

Robert Zemeckis doesn't get enough respect. Sure, he's an animation-obsessed hack now, but could Spielberg or Cameron give us the glorious Death Becomes Her? The fact that he is the straightest, whitest man who looks like he has a train set in his basement but pulled off such a campy gem.

Back to the Future and Who Framed Roger Rabbit are two of my favorite movies. Forrest Gump and Cast Away are also great. But man that motion capture obsession destroyed his career quality wise

Literally no one, not a single person, was seriously saying today would increase until now, this shows the strength of this movie. It could jump much higher, 45-50M weekend. This entire site keeps underestimating james cameron.

I am predicting and hoping for 40 for the weekend. If it does 50 that will be wonderful. That doesn't make me some Cameron hater with an agenda. In fact most of us are happy when movies do better than what we expect.

Primary drop after 45 days. Theatre will start drop after 45 days.

Piracy Proof Country. But, they won't play films if they drop in Disney+ after 45 days.

Okay, it's bad for you. But, good for me, considering Disney wickedness

I will be stunned if they drop it there after 45 days. I mean Black Panther is coming Disney Plus on February 1 which is I think more than 60 days after the theatrical release.

The problem is Japan’s run is nothing special

In normal time Japan is the leggy market but for now most market performence and leggy better than Japan for Avatar 2

I agree and understand the disappointment of most and that is perfectly valid. Just me personally after the 2nd weekend I just changed my personal perspective from something like, ok we have 18 million from there so far, fine just don't collapse and give us 20 more to 38 and I won't complain anymore. It's a personal method I do to have a positive mindset.

Because it doesn't make sense. Disney Pre-pandemic &Disney Post-Pandemic is totally different. How can you compare it with Universal/Paramount? They don't even have any streaming platform here. Their drops will be totally different. If you compare it with Frozen/Aladdin it will still not make sense because they didn't have any streaming platform back then.

At the end, $30M-$35M is not a bad number for Disney unless you are comparing it with original.

Do you know why Jurassic World made $46M, Top Gun Maverick made $100M+ because they don't have streaming platform in Japan! So their film can't get pirated in Japan!

There is always a difference with one have streaming platform here and one with not.. This really made a huge difference in determining success ratio in Japan.

When will Avatar be available to stream in Japan?
