I think I may take the rest of the year off in this thread. Wait for this Joker "discussion" to fade or go away.
Get this thread turned back to Bloodshot, Black Widow, JW3, SW9, SS, BoP, WW84, FB3....anything else.

Sorry, but IMHO "Solid" has become a pretty meaningless term.
Good thing I was talking about MY Opinion. Um, thanks for being contrary though.

Rambo Last Blood doing $19m for it's OW is pretty solid. Only slightly off tracking and with a $50m budget isn't going to be a problem for it's investors.
Stallone mentioned sequel ideas after this one if it did well. So what does "do well" mean in the current context I wonder?

I'm positive I can think of at least one questionable decision he made. I chalked it up to his emotions and love of Gabby get in the way. Love was a fairly abstract thing in Rambo's life. Therefore even though he had 10yrs he was still inexperienced for what it was.

Looks like this is coming for the weekend crown with $30M+! Impressive. You wonder if it'll be front loaded due to the fan rush or if this is genuinely primed for a strong run.
My gut says:
- Strong first weekend due to lots of interest.
- Better than average weekdays
- Weak 2nd weekend
- Very respectable finish with a sequel announcement forthcoming.

A sort of "I get enough shit about the Border on the evening news, don't need to pay 12 bucks for it".
This is one of the massive misunderstandings....its not about the Border, illegals crossing or "stealing jobs" or any of that political stuff AT ALL.

Grade: B+
Saw it last night and the obvious thing to me is just how much these reviewers had to stretch for political commentary on this film. The irony is that it by far apolitical, which makes it a bit tonally out of synch with the other films.
First Blood - 'Nam and societies cruelness to returning soldiers
FB, pt2 - 'Nam and POWs
Rambo III - Afgan/Russia conflict
Rambo - Burma, drawing attention to longest running Civil War on the planet
The Martinez brothers could very well have been Italian or Triads and the story wouldn't have changed. The Martinez brothers are doing the same thing, human sex trafficking, that we see the Albanians doing in Taken(Liam Neeson).
I found the characterization in the first act had meaning and gave resonance to the rest of the film. I was actually surprised with the toned down John Rambo who was "just keeping a lid on it". The only narrative issue I have is the lack of any exposition as to why Gabriella, her Mother and Grandmother had lived on the farm with John. Now, I did hear Sly on Jimmy Fallon state a reason but that was not mentioned in the film. Should've been. Overall I really liked it and while it does leave the door open for more Rambo I'm not sure where they go. At least Rambo set up this but I don't see what this sets up in a meaningful way. A set up is given I'm just not sure of it.
Hot Take: Taken meets Home Alone with a slight twist

IGN gave it 4.5/10 and Den of Geek 2.5/5. And of course both complain about Trump, the movie being "offensive"/"culturally insensitive"/"irresponsible"/"dated in 2019" and that Mexican Cartel members are shown as bad people, lol. Predictable stupidity of woke press as it is.
What "woke" person thinks there are good, decent Cartel(drug running) individuals?
These PC movie reviewers are a joke.

Finally saw this. Think I loved it...
But some asshole brought a baby (yes, to John Wick) so gotta try to go again
Happened to me in Blade II all those years ago. Was at a 10:15 showing and a 2-3yr old toddler was in tow.
Really?!

Can't wait to see which non makeup characters Batista, Gillian and Saldana are cast as in future MCU films
Trolling novice.
All are much more recognizable than she is through the makeup.
Try again caterpillar.

October might be a good time to reveal a teaser, even if it's only 30-45seconds.

Weird idea to cast her since she’s already in Captain Marvel
But she is under a lot of makeup, not immediately recognizable.
Good use of recasting.

I see the predictability of the critics is already panning out.
Don't care, saw it coming. I have my tickets for tomorrow night all the same.

I assume this won’t be getting a China release either?
They didn’t allow the 2016 film because of the ghosts.
Seems like a logical assumption to make.

Solo was a movie no-one asked for, that's why it bombed. I don't care for JJ's films, but even I know Star Wars 9 (?) is gonna make a lot of money
And yet I still enjoyed it, while being able to acknowledge some flaws.
I'd like to see the "sequel" to it: LANDO

I keep forgetting this is happening...again.

I was impressed by the number of replies in the Avatar 2 thread and went to check the most replied threads. Since they're split in several forums, it's hard for me to check, but was the BVS thread the biggest of all time, with over 54,000 replies?
Damn that's a lot, that movie is truly iconic and a modern classic.
Modern Classic?! 🤣
Yeah, classic in the way Plan 9 from Outer Space is "classic". They are both classically bad.

Again, when BP2 drops considerably from BP1 what will this board do... panic. Without actually being logical and unemotional in the assessment
I fully expect chaos, the sky is falling, decrees that the CBM fatigue has finally set in and maybe a suicide watch or two.

Wasn't a poor-ish Monday expected, it was by me. The audience for IT is weekend oriented. That is why I feel the standard of seeing how the second weekend does to be super important for judging the longevity.
I suspect Chapter 2 was more front loaded and the rewatch ability might be less so I'm expecting a 60% drop or so but we shall see.

true but different people find different things scary. I know people who are more scared of Dementors than any proper horror villain.
Same. I've met folks super scared by "The Gentlemen" from that 'Hush' episode of Buffy than they ever were about SAW(any of them).

That was in my mind. A Rambo version of Rocky Balboa for John.

A $430m Domestic haul is great for a franchises 3rd sequel!!
I was unprepared for this film what with TS3 looking like a solid conclusion, turns out it was a transition film.
In lots of ways so was this so what would a TS5 look like?? We may all find out in 3-5 years.
