Anyone?
-
DocWho, if I sell, say, 50% of The Lego Movie, my total investments will reduce to 120% from 170%, right?
-
10% - 13M
20% - 25M
30% - 37M
40% - 49M
50% - 60M
Not selling any more than that.

Nausicaa isn't technically a Ghibli film since it was made before the studio was founded.
Also, which character didn't you like in Arrietty, just wondering? Although I have a feeling I know who.
I don't remember the name, but its the borrower who manages the boat out of that place. Not that I don't like him, but his inclusion just spoils what would have been a very heart-touching ending.

I am gonna hand out points out of 10 and average them:
Pixar
Toy Story ----------------------- 10 (one of the greatest films)
A Bug's Life -------------------- N/A
Toy Story 2 --------------------- 8 (not as good as its predecessor)
Monsters Inc -------------------- 9 (Another timeless film)
Finding Nemo -------------------- 10 (nothing needs to be said)
The Incredibles ----------------- 10 (almost the best superhero film)
Cars ---------------------------- N/A
Up ------------------------------ 8 (very good)
Cars 2 -------------------------- N/A
Ratatouille --------------------- 9 (excellent)
WALL-E -------------------------- 8 (didn't age well for me)
Brave --------------------------- 6 (most disappointing original unless I see Cars)
Monsters University ------------- 7 (not Pixar quality, but good enough)
Toy Story 3 --------------------- 7 (never got to like it for some reason)
Seen - 11/14
Average - 8.36
Ghibli
Spirited Away ------------------- 10 (very very very engaging)
Kiki's Delivery Service --------- 8 (also very good)
Pom Poko------------------------- 7 (got a bit boring towards the end)
Porco Rosso --------------------- 9 (very good, yet again)
Princess Mononoke --------------- 9 (excellent)
Arrietty ------------------------ 7 (would've been 9 if a certain character was absent)
Castle in the Sky --------------- 8 (nice)
Ponyo --------------------------- 7 (okay, sort of)
My Neighbour Totoro ------------- 11!! (among my top films of all time)
Whisper of the Heart ------------ N/A
Grave of the Fireflies ---------- 10 (very very emotional)Tales of Earthsea --------------- N/A
Howl's Moving Castle ------------ 8 (storytelling was a bit of a mess, still very good)
From Up on Poppy Hill ----------- N/A
Seen - 11/14
Average - 8.54
OP didn't include Naussica, I'd given it a 7, average would be 8.42, a bit above Pixar.

"...Gravity has grossed a total of $365.6 million overseas and crossed the $600 million global mark this weekend with a $615.3 million worldwide cume..."
On hearing my enthusiastic $600M WW predict for GRAVITY, some guy said:
"I think people need to get an Expectation Lowering Procedure training before they are allowed to post predictions.
Lecture 1- Just because you want a film to succeed and it exceeds expectations in the first weekend doesn't mean that your predictions should make humongous jumps.''
This guy is wise and he is right but it is nice you are vindicated
Look at my sig. Click on the link
Yeah, that was me.
P.S.: I am happy it did this well.
P.S.S.: I disabled sigs, and I am too lazy to change the settings to see the link. Would you kindly post it?

Signed up.

Ok, I bet I'll (be able to) play this time around.

umm...
Do cliffhangers hurt repeat viewing prospects of a film?
-
Umm...someone said 2 sad news. I got one about PW, whats the other?
-
One thing this performance does is, we need to look closer at all future possible sequels to all-time blockbusters and be cautious, can it repeat it's success again.
In your dreams. Every blockbuster will be associated with crazy predictions no matter how many previous blockbusters taught us otherwise.
-
Ok, I had no idea that I was up for challenge, or what happened this whole week for that matter.
-
I fucked up one question too on both these challenges. I would have probably scored 97+ this past weekend if my Counselor prediction was better and I would have had 94-5% again if my Grandpa prediction wasn't so far off.
Yeah, I fucked up more than you. But these are very common occurrences for me, dating back to 2011, when I started predicting. A string of 98%+ scores only for a 60 or 70 odd score to burst the bubble. That's why I never really got to the final stages of this game. At least this year I am doing better than I did in almost the whole of the last 18 months, which must be a relief.
-
Hmm, and my streak of fucking up in one question continues.
-
I'm assuming not this week as only captains made predictions, it would be unfair on people who didn't predict.
I thought everyone in the team is gonna get points, but whatever.
-
The scores weren't really that close...
Haha, considering only one question dragged me below 96%, you can say it was that close.
-
Won't we get other points (points for 90+ scores/points for highest in questions, etc)?
-
Very very tough, but City of God wins for me narrowly.
-
Seen only Full Metal Jacket. Don't think my vote should count.
-
DH2 would have done 355m without 3D.
I wasn't sure, so I deliberately low-balled.
