  1.

Rate/rank Scorsese's movies you have watched

    Taxi Driver: 8

    Raging Bull: 6

    Goodfellas: 6

    The Age of Innocence: 7

    Gangs of New York: 7

    The Aviator: 8

    The Departed: 8

    Shutter Island: 8

    Hugo: 9

At last, someone who doesn't consider Goodfellas to be Scorsese's best attempt. :)

PS. I don't consider Hugo to be his best attempt either.

  2. I think it would be best if you tell people to give a top 50 instead of top 100. You get smaller but more than adequate sample size to work with, more people will be inclined to participate and we'll get a better list. Doing anything more than a top 20 can be very tiring, and the last places will be filled with random characters.

  3. As of right now, I have no intention of removing that format of question. While it allows for a very minimal margin of error, it is also designed on MY end to prevent an over-excessiveness of points, because then I will have to constantly raise the price of immunities. If almost everyone screws up on one question, I will typically drop it, or I may use it as a bonus. But when there are some players who do decent or good, I keep the score set out of fairness to them.

I know you will not change the format (I requested it before, but it still is here) which is why my suggestion was to keep it out of important games. Now while every game can be considered important since a single fuck up can get you eliminated, challenges (which determine the survivors) and endgames (where no one would like to be eliminated after the hard work) should be free of these.

  4. IMO, #4 was a pretty standard question for these types of games. It's only silly because the majority of us got it wrong. Now if want to talk about diabolical, it's those damn limited release PTA questions. I lost count how many times those bastards screwed me up last year.

Not because the majority got it wrong, but because you have to take a gamble that has nothing to do with your prediction skills. What if the question was difference in percent drop between Rush and Baggage Claim? You predicted as low as 1%? Fuck you, you still get a 0%. What if you are a dumbfuck who predicted 80% drop for Rush and 80.4% drop for Baggage Claim because you don't know shit about box office? Doesn't matter, you get 100%.

And yeah, PTA questions can get pretty bad, IMO, but at least they don't reward you for stupidity.

  5. Like I said, I definitely understand this point of view and I wouldn't want every week to live or die based on one question out of five. At the same time I do enjoy occasionally there being a question where the margin for error is much smaller (And I am usually a loser in those situations).

We all like to gamble, don't we? ;)

I would have been more accepting if it was more like poker, where a hand's play is not affected by the ones before it (except for the available chips, of course). But considering there are challenges and other twists out there, don't you think silly questions like this can really (and unfairly) punish someone harder than just low averages for a week?

  6. I can see both arguments for those kinds of questions as if you can nail them, you can make big gains over other players which is nice because it suggests that you saw something that others didn't.

If that's what is needed, then why ask the other questions at all? If the answer to Q4 is 2%, then how much more did a player see than another if he answered 3% and the other answered 4%? The second person falls a full 10% behind on average, which is just not acceptable. In my opinion, there is no excuse for this sort of questions to be in a prediction game, this is not maths.

  7. I have a suggestion to the Creator:

Don't give questions like no. 4 in important games, like challenges, special weekends and other weeks when the results are important to the direction in which the game proceeds. You know why.

  8. 5.1 "Deviations" (Team Captains)

The first game is underway, so now it is time to reveal the meaning of the Team Captain. Each team was arranged by returning veterans, who picked members to join them on their teams. For the most part, the teams are named after the veteran who started the team. There a couple exceptions, mostly those that involve two or more veterans on the same team, or which are a recurring team from a previous season. Also, there are two tentative Team Captains, two veterans who instead of picking players had players assigned to them. The Team Captains have been ranked by strength, as those who contributed most to this process started off with greater strength. That means both ChD and Chasmmi stand out with the greatest power so far.

So how will this power come into effect?

There are many ways throughout the season that we will see the Team Captain exercise power. Not akin to the manner in which Legends had near totalitarian control last season, the Team Captains must exercise their powers within certain, albeit flexible, restraints. The Team Captain will be the representative of his team for each week of the season. Representative to what? A brand new Challenge. In fact, it's not even The Challenge...instead, it's The Ventures.

The Ventures - Every week, the Team Captains will participate as representatives of their respective teams in "The Ventures". Similar to The Challenge, in which players face elimination, The Ventures are designed to determine which team is given the most power. The Team Captain who performs highest in The Ventures receives benefits for himself and for his team. In the instance that a team has a co-captain (as in "The Shadowgods") or a chair (as in "The Equation Sensation"), a Team Captain can choose to send a different representative in his place, but only one representative from each team can participate in the Ventures. That means for "The Shadowgods", Xeno and Acsc can choose to alternate who goes into The Ventures each week. And for "Equation Sensation", Team Captain 4815162342 can elect a chair (Jim Shorts or Goffe) to go in his stead. As teams grow or shrink over the course of the season, Team Captains can choose to elect chairs when their governing body exceeds 3 members. In this, a hierarchical system is established within each team...and amongst the teams combined. Because the Team Captain who scores the best in the Ventures will reap the greatest benefit, but that benefit will be disclosed at a later time.

The Ventures will provide Team Captains with the incentive to work harder for their team's benefit. If a Team Captain dies in The Challenge, his team will be dissolved...and the players who are bound to him MAY under circumstances be eliminated also. There are preventative measures that each Team Captain can take to prevent this from happening, but for now, know and understand that as a Team Captain, you are responsible for both yourself and for your partner(s). Your conduct in the Ventures and in the weekend competitions should express this.

Power - ChD and Chasmmi are tied for holding the most power right now. The effects of this will not actually be felt or explained until weekend results are published.

    That's it. I resign. :P

  9.

Question 1 is going to be one of those annoying questions where the person scoring highest well well be the idiot who thought Runner Runner would break out.

I can't see many people having predicted in excess of 50M for Gravity and so it could come down to whoever overpredicted RR the most doing best at the question. :(

My original prediction for Q no. 1 was 60M (50+10) before I thought myself crazy and reduced it to 55M. :(
