It’s fine if YOU don’t like it, but that narrative is over. Died a long time ago and wasn’t ever true. There was no world and no time where that was ever even remotely true in fact. CinemaScore was an A-, PostTrak was 4.5/5, every poll ever conducted in fact agreed. The movie had some of the best legs ever for a big blockbuster, on the strength of great word of mouth. It was a tiny group of the exact same age morons who controlled corporate media and gaslit everyone that “everyone hates TPM.” Nothing could be further from the truth. And you see the results, a way bigger opening than ROTJ just last year. The beloved classic lol
TPM is not beloved at all, it just SW fans have been disappointed so much they can accept ok films now, don't act like People vs George Lucas or Jar Jar Stinks never happened , Jake Lloyd has mental health issues partially cause the reaction to TPM , without Liam elevating the material or duel of fates climax TPM is just bad overall

Grain of salt but some guy I've never heard of is saying on Twitter an embargo lifts on the 7th. Gonna assume that's just a social if true

Simon Pegg said on his Instagram stories that he has three more weeks to film. The budget of this movie must be insane. No wonder Par is selling
they should consider themselves lucky if it makes as much as the last one

I saw some logs on LB when this had a test screening on Feb 28th and I didn't see anything bad. The consensus seemed to be that it's good/great but not better than Fury Road.
i just hope it has a story , and not a 2 hour car chase like Fury Road

A- is good for the fall guy.
I don't know maybe it can have good summer legs and not being the success someone wants or needs but neither the bomb someone thinks.
Another EB movie, Edge of Tomorrow earned a B+ CS and legged it out to 100m, maybe it can repeat that so cinemas can live and not die

i didn't care for this much, and wtf, who thinks this is a horror film ?

That's about what Fury Road did it's opening 4 days.
almost a decade ago, and not a holiday weekend, it could be worse i guess , i think a sequel would have opened better than a prequel

50m over the long holiday is barely acceptable but expected
-
this clearly does under the First Avenger WW , 350m total if they are lucky , not worth the costly reshoots , could have been D+ original

-
if this doesn't work out , maybe we can get a Hulu series with people in ape suits again
-
at least Brie has her streaming show
-
Challengers doing similar to Air, so about 50m domestic possible depending on weekend drop, since competition coming

The frontloading shows Zendaya is the only reason it's staying afloat. Otherwise it would've been DOA.
R-rating won't let most of her young fanbase attend anyway. Maybe she should have gone with a more wholesome romcom for her first major non-blockbuster release. But I guess her team is expecting awards chatter for Challengers?
her team should not sign her up for overpriced movies, this should have been made at half the budget

I don’t think ticket prices are the problem with movie attendance and grosses. People don’t mind paying more for IMAX and PLFs and prices for the regular screens are tolerable, especially with the Tuesday discounts, the rewards programs for most chains and a lot of the re-issue or anniversary or special showings which are reasonably priced.
The concession prices, however, are completely out of control and probably the larger driver of reduced attendance. A medium popcorn and medium drink at AMC cost me over $17 bucks yesterday for what probably cost the theater less than 25 cents to make. Theaters had to raise concession prices because studios kept taking a larger and larger share of ticket sales leaving theaters with little choice but to mark up concessions in order to eke out a profit. You can get soda, popcorn and candy for a family of 6 for maybe $10 or so for a home movie night. Between that and a 65” TV to watch it on, people are fine with staying home and not having to deal with other moviegoers.kids combo is cheaper. bring in a water bottle sometimes

surprised anyone is disappointed with Challengers cause Zendaya is the star , i'm also confused why they promoted this with a world tour like a 4 quad blockbuster gets , we saw this play out with Twilight actors , fans will only show up for certain things, not niche movies

Do you guys think Spider-Man.4 with Holland is a $500M DOM potential film?
only if Morbius is in it

What I find silly is that there's doom and gloom despite the improbability of Civil War and Challengers making as much as they have even PRE Covid. When was the last time a high concept political movie and a sexy tennis movie put up these numbers? Genuinely asking.
Avatar and Star Wars are high concept political films

this should open in 40s ,only based off my mom's awareness of film , she likes Ryan

Multiple new castings usually indicate significant reshoots... too bad. Hope there might be different cuts of the movie available on home video! But I somehow doubt it...
but they are not reshoots if you never stop filming 😉 , usually they do reshoots after test screenings to fix things

Those movies have such a long production period, sir Ridley would've filmed at least 3 movies while Tom shoots a single MI flick.
good thing for Hoult dropping out

Ok but putting Fandango polls aside, is there any palpable buzz, hype, or even negativity from people? Even here, a box office forum, the most attention this film has gotten in past few months is making fun of Helen Hunt’s career.
she had a good career , she is ancient by Hollywood standards, once you reach a certain age unless you are Helen Mirren or Meryl Streep your career is over

Radio Silence are really lucky when it comes to critics.
Ready Or Not is a 7/10. Scream 5 is a 6/10. Scream 6 is a 2/10. Abigail is a 4/10.sort of agree, though Scream 6 should not be that low, Ready Or Not is carried by Samara Weaving , MB is not a strong lead
