IMO, this is one of the best science-fiction films of all time, though not for all tastes. The dialogue tends to be Philosophy 101 (like most of Tarkovsky's movies), but the real strength of the movie are the visuals and sound design. You need to sit back and let it all flow over you... and the result is subtle, mysterious, and unsettling. A

Well this is one of the greatest films of all time 

 

Imagery is beautiful, the direction is perhaps the most ambitious I've ever seen and the philosophy you mentioned Tele along with symbols just cut into your mind and get deeply inside of you ... this is as thought provoking as you can get on film 

 

that long shot with 3 of them in front of the room pondering = perfection 

 

10/10 

 

Sadly, this film is definitely not for everyone

it is rather frustrating that a director who otherwise produces fantastic films stuffs them to the brim with philosophical fluff that expresses far fewer ideas than the number of syllables it takes to dictate them. it is beautiful and intriguing, but lay off the dialogue, man.
