Paramount-MGM’s remake charted top in five markets, including Mexico with $2.8m, while it recorded a $2.5m bow in Brazil and $817k in Venezuela. It opens in Australia, Argentina and the Netherlands next weekend. Forum Film distributes the film in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Israel. Screendaily - Ben-Hur fought to a further $5.2m from its 46 markets for an early $29.7m, after opening top in Spain with $1.1m from 356 sites. Paramount-MGM’s remake posted a $710k third weekend in Brazil for $5.5m and a $628k third weekend in Mexico for $6m. Screendaily - Ben-Hur raced to an estimated $11.3m from its 47 markets for $54.9m overseas, with the majority of the weekend’s take coming from a superb $7m bow in South Korea. Holdover-wise, Paramount-MGM’s remake took $907k for $2.4m after two weeks in France, while Russia added $696k for $3.7m and the UK took $556k for $2.5m. It arrives in Italy on Sept 29. Paramount-MGM’s remake posted a $1.6m second weekend in South Korea for $8.8m and added $467k in France for $3m after three weeks in play. It opens in China on Oct 10.
