Heaven Can Wait is a perfectly enjoyable comedy that falls apart in its last ten minutes. Up until that point, Beatty and Henry's vision of the afterlife is oddly funny in a very dry way. Beatty's acting is better than his filmmaking here, making Joe a lovable goofball who the audience will want to root for despite his sometimes obnoxious qualities. The film though squanders away all its goodwill in its final ten minutes, choosing to examine souls and what makes humanity individuals in a really disturbing way. It goes against the rest of the film's humanistic viewpoint, and really just ruins the entire experience. Heaven Can Wait overall is an average experience, thanks to the high quality comedy, falling apart with a horrendous ending. C
