MrFanaticGuy34
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=rescuers.htm The 23rd Disney Animated film in the "classic-line up" and through it's lifetime, it's DOM-gross is at $71M which would adjust to $214M in today's money, (Yes, even higher than the adjusted DOM-grosses of later animated films like The Emperor's New Groove, The Hunchback of Notre Dame & Hercules). It also had a $7.5M budget at the time. It's said to be Disney's first big success since The Jungle Book (which was released 10 years before The Rescuers) and is also one of the first Disney animated films without involvement of Walt Disney himself, due to his death in 1966. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Wow! For some reason I never realized its gross was that high. Upon the conclusion of its second (and final) re-release in 1989, it was the 6th highest grossing animated film of all-time domestically: #1 - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - $143,291,015 #2 - Bambi - $102,247,150 #3 - The Jungle Book - $97,197,993 #4 - Lady and the Tramp - $93,602,326 #5 - 101 Dalmatians - $84,049,729 #6 - The Rescuers - $71,215,869 #7 - Pinocchio - $65,390,608 #8 - The Fox and the Hound - $63,456,988 #9 - Peter Pan - $57,959,520 #10 - Oliver & Company - $53,279,055 This was a childhood favorite of mine... I especially loved the "Rescue Aid Society" theme song lol.
MrFanaticGuy34
I really want to see another theatrical re-release to this film. Would have been cool to experience the nostalgia for this film. Edited January 14, 2019 by MrFanaticGuy34
MrFanaticGuy34
I’ve checked the lifetime worldwide gross for this one. It’s at $169M WW. Still with the lifetime DOM gross at $71.2M, and if adjusted to nowadays ticket price inflation domestic-wise, it would be around $250M DOM or higher. Did notice that the WW grosses for most of the much older Disney animated films (like Snow White, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book etc), are accounted for in Wikipedia…but BOM has never once updated most of the movies, especially their OS-grosses. 🤷🏻♀️
