Blankments
O.J.: Made in America is a stunning achievement. Nearly eight hours long, it still feels as though it go on for another ten, filling up the details of the history of racial relations in Los Angeles and O.J. Simpson's life even more. As for what it is though, the film spirals enough to give a raw understanding of O.J. and why everything in his truly legendary life happened the way it did. Edelman does not really direct the film with much flair, but the fact that he gets so much information in what really is not that much time is remarkable. The interviews are informative, and the editing is absolutely stellar. The only issue one could argue with this film is a lack of really going after the sexist portions of both the crime and the trial, which are given a cursory look at best. Still, O.J.: Made in America is an enthralling and enlightening documentary that proves that a simple approach can be the best when dealing with detailed topics. Really though, it's just a good watch for anyone, not just fans of documentaries or the O.J. Simpson trial.
