I will start with 2016 BO data.

The Fast and the Furious franchise history in Indonesia.

I couldn't find data on the first movie.

F8 and F7 are the highest grossing import movies in Indonesia, so the future is extremely bright for this franchise.

Indonesia's place in Top 20 International Box Office Markets

 

Indonesia started entering the charts in 2014, in 20^th place.

Then in 2015, up to 16^th place.

Up again to 15^th place in 2016.

 

It's a rather large gap to Spain, so I guess we will stay put for a while.

In 2016 total number of tickets sold was estimated at 100 million (36.5 million of them for local movies).

Number of screens is around 1200, still very underserved. The three cinema chains (XXI, CGV, Cinemaxx) are all expanding, as studies indicate that Indonesia has room for about 5000 screens. That means we have potential to crack 1 billion in total gross.

With Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenger (as it is known in Indonesia) coming in at 24 May, here is the franchise's performance record in Indonesia:

 

 

Pirates 4 dropped sharply from 3, but in 2011 there was a period of Hollywood movie ban in Indonesia due to tax issues.

Therefore Pirates 4 opened very late in September.

 

Quite a few movies affected back in 2011.
