This wasn't terrible and has its moments but overall it's kind of charmless and completely aimless. John Krasinski's history as a mostly comedic actor would, on paper, make him seem more well-suited to make heartwarming family films as opposed to horror movies behind the camera, but he seems unable to truly capture the magic and wonder that should be on display here. There also no real stakes either. This really could've used a villain who wanted to capture the IFs or make them extinct or something.

At least the cast (including an astoundingly starry voice cast in which Krasinski seems to have recruited seemingly everyone in his personal contact list for, in most cases, 2 or 3 lines at most) keeps things charming enough, led by young Cailey Fleming. Ryan Reynolds is solid too, despite how eye-rolling and predictable the twist that can be seen coming just from the marketing that (surprise surprise!) he's an IF himself at the end is.
