  1. Not exactly. It's based on a manga. Though Miyazaki does write original stories for the screen all the time. Like Totoro, Mononoke, and Spirited Away
  2. Remember the 70s countdown. Wasn't that 2 days? 😎
  3. their economies haven't been destroyed and this virus is not nothing. What planet are you on now? makes sense, Republicans like pieces of shit like Desantis.
  4. IDK I'm bordering on unironically liking it. Like if I didn't hear that it was supposed to be bad...
  5. I liked watching the Anthony Bourdain documentary but I don’t think it was a good idea to make. It was informative and I enjoyed seeing the glimpse into Bourdain’s life because he seemed like an interesting public persona. But the trouble comes when *why* this movie was made. I don’t think it was made in good faith. Just as a way to salvage a troubled legacy. And it was extremely unfair to include speculation on why he killed himself. It’s also hard to include details about Asia Argento because she’s a troublesome person as well. Was it not alleged that Bour
  6. see this is a shock for me because I thought audiences would hate how they desexualized the girl bunny.
  7. Should one count the movies Hayao Miyazaki wrote or co-wrote? would also include: Whisper of the Heart (1995) (wonderful,on the level as his other movies) Arrietty (2010) (on the level of Ponyo, tbh) From Up on Poppy Hill (2011) (haven't seen this)
  8. Whisper of the Heart (1995), is just as good as any given Hayao Miyazaki movie, about on the level of Castle in the Sky or Kiki's Delivery service. Which means it's absolutely wonderful of course! It doesn't have the same iconic imagery as those movies outside of the Baron and the fantasy sequences though. Which can be taken wildly out of context in promoting the movie! Hayao Miyazaki wrote the movie and storyboarded from Aoi Hiragi's manga, and Yoshifumi Kondo directed the movie. Tragically it was the only feature Kondo directed before he died in 1998.
  9. OMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGG I know that was my favorite part of the movie!
  10. Corny as hell and some of the cross branding efforts made me want to vomit. Still it has good animation. C
  11. So is it that she turns into a red panda when she's "excited" or when she's anxious? I think I could get into this movie. I can really relate to having to handle one's emotions and being young in that time period.
  12. so do you not like anime or is it that you've never seen an anime feature?
  13. This is a great blog post about what makes anime tick. And the history of anime versus American animation. https://wavemotioncannon.com/2016/01/08/why-over-sixty-years-of-animation-history-still-remains-obscure/ WHY OVER SIXTY YEARS OF ANIMATION HISTORY STILL REMAINS OBSCURE
