Jack Nevada Posted April 1, 2013 Share Posted April 1, 2013 The Good German actually starts out really weird because while its trying to do a faithful homage to the 40's classics like Casablanca it also shows Tobey Maguire having buttsex and the characters swearing like they're in a Tarantino movie. Its an odd mix, and definitely made me suspicious about the picture's quality. Fortunately Soderbergh cuts down on that foolishness and the movie turns into a stunningly authentic but still quite superficial pastiche.
