I think it has an uphill battle with the last film not being very well liked.
It wasn't hated though. It got moderate reception. First Meg had good legs at the boxoffice. I mean this trailer is #1 trending on youtube right now. People are interested and a great release date without much competition.

This looks silly and fun, but I bet it’ll have a huge drop from the first film at the box office because the first one didn’t deliver on its promise.
I’d rather the Meg was finally eating people instead of dinosaurs.
And the “this looks ridiculous when can I book tickets” doesn’t translate to the general audiences whatsoever. I wouldn’t be surprised if this made less than $60m.
I disagree I can see this opening around the same as the first. The trailer has already racked up 6.2M views on youtube in less than w4 hours and the reception is mostly positive. No way this misses $60M, I think it's locked for $100M DOM. It has a prime release date with August being shark season and a lot of people will go to the movies just for that.

This is a win for the MCU because it halts the downward trajectory caused by Quantumania. Hopefully The Marvels can bring back some of the luster.

50-55% drop would great for 2nd weekend drop.

The demise of Disney on here is about to be proven wrong yet again. I don't think it'll match BATB or Lion King but on par with Aladdin wouldn't surprise me. It's much more female skewing so it'll fare well throughout the summer.
The big problem is going into the future. The well is getting dry. They really only have Little Mermaid and Snow White left to remake. There's only so many classic films they can remake. I do think they can remake Pinocchio again in a couple years considering that the one last year already disappeared into the ether. I am hoping with the success of Mario we get a Kingdom Hearts animated full length movie.

$600M domestic looks difficult but still possible, right ?
Don't think it'll happen but hey $800M OS might happen if it continues its insane run in Japan.

I was getting very worried for Guardians 3 in the past few weeks so I'm glad to see it performing better. $700M+ would be a great solid finish. I hope it can beat Thor Love and Thunder WW.

I don't think Paramount is expecting Bayformers 1-4 level type numbers. What they are hoping to do is revive the tarnished brand. Bumblebee helped a bit but they need a great full fledged Transformers film to get in people's good graces. Any number above The Last Knight worldwide would be a great result.

This movie can be incredible and still gross less than Bayformers.

$400M OS seems out of reach. I'd say $330M.

Gorgeous
[lots of different posts with strong likes, seems like twitter is back on board with this movie after the bad reception of the second trailer ... maybe the colorful featurettes did some damage control afterall]
I think so Hailey Bieber looks even more stunning now with brighter colors.

Speaking of animated movies and international grosses. Why did Puss in Boots 2 do less internationally than the first one
The first Puss in Boots made $50M in Russia. Its biggest market there. This one didn't get released there.

$1.1B is locked, $1.2B is very doable. It's hard to know where this will land because of Japan. I could see it being a hit or a disappointment in that market.

Looks very mediocre.

I mean, there are messages in their huge hits too but they're just better movies. No one wanted Lightyear and Strange World... Even if they were good or really good they wouldn't have made much more... That's what hurt those most of all. This comes across as a baiting post. Their biggest issue is likely releasing too many in a row straight to streaming. People really liked Luca and Turning Red. Frozen, Frozen II, Zootopia, Coco, Toy Story 4, etc. are littered with messages and all did extremely well. Apologies if you were just being sarcastic...
I didnt say Disney shouldn't make movies with messages but it shouldn't be your main priority as an entertainment company. It should be about making a product that families will enjoy first.

Poor Disney Animation and Pixar. How the mighty have fallen. Behind Dreamsworks and Illumination. I guess that's what happens when you care about inserting messages in your movies than entertaining an audience. Maybe Elemental can be break out hit but I think it might get lost in the shuffle of a very crowded June. Trailers so far haven't been all that appealing for it.

I think the audiences are liking this much more than the critics. A cinemascore, should hold up well.

If the first Dungeons and Dragons movie had been as good as this new one, it would've been massive in 2000. But alas the game hasn't been relevant for like decades.

I can see this flopping; trailer came out 2 days ago and just found about it now. It doesn't seem all that anticipated.

This movie is going to be big no matter what the reviews are.

You know what's amazing, all 3 John Wick films so far have a 7.4 on IMDB. This franchise is remarkably consistent.

I'm an adult and I'd rather go see Mario.
Doesn't mean you can't see both.

I think this can do very well even if Mario is a mega hit. Counterprogramming is a real thing. Adults can go to Dungeons while their kids go to Mario.

The WB trailer doing 15M views in just 2 days shows there is a lot of interest for this movie out there.
