So James Cameron won in the end. Avatar 4 is pretty much done deal seeing these numbers.
Avatar 4 been locked. We're gunning for Avatar 53.

I think Shrek 5's floor (like worst case scenario quality) is 140M and 390M WW
Lets say its just fine (65% RT, 55 Meta) I think it will do Minions 2 numbers, 370M dom and 900WW
If it gets Puss 2 or better reviews? 500M dom and 1.3bn WWThat floor is only possible if it's like Norm of the North quality.

Hey Godzilla, whats the general consensus over in Japan for why A2 is doing so bad there compared to the first movie?
Japan's a wildcard.

If Shrek 5 turns out as good as Puss in Boots 2 it can make $800M+.

Hopefully Avatar 3 will show its full potential…
I doubt it'll even get released considering Taiwan.

Everything will be much clearer where this is going next weekend. But I think $2B WW and $600M DOM are more likely than not.

People love to say that Avatar doesn't have a crazy fanbase like Star Wars or Marvel. But I think in these times that's a benefit to the franchise. People are getting turned off by franchises like Star Wars or MCU because of their crazed fanbase. We Avatar fans aren't obsessive. We love seeing James Cameron vision on screen and we let Avatar wash all over us like an experience. Yes we recognize some flaws like the occasional clunky dialogue but we don't nitpick it because we view Avatar movies as a whole.

Based on where I have the domestic total landing after the weekend, Avatar should be at around $1.34B by Monday if the domestic/overseas ratio stays the same.
I'd say closer to or at $1.4B.

$1.4B by Monday is not unlikely.

If Puss in Boots 2 can make $300M WW+ it'd be great for it. Sad thing is that losing Russia as a market is a big loss for it. The first Puss in Boots made $50M there and its biggest foreign market. This won't have that due to the war of course.

$1.4B by Jan 2 possible?

Seated for Whitney with a rose wine and sour patch kids.
My Dad passed away on Christmas Eve and he loved Whitney Houston. The past few days have been tough.
❤️💔
So sorry for your loss.

A 40% worldwide decrease from the previous movie is very substantial. Marvel and Disney have to address this because if the third movie sees a similar drop, then it will be a big money loser.
-
Avatar's message is very similar to what Indian spiritual beliefs are. They can connect with this movie on a deeper level.

This movie was an experience. Yes, the dialogue is clunky, and some storylines are cliched but the whole experience of it washes all that away from me. I was in complete awe and wonder at what I was watching. I actually teared up by the incredible beauty, took my breath away. I thought the whole family angle was quite moving at times. I really liked this film.

I'm seeing a lot of hype for this with people around me. I'm starting to believe $3B is possible especially considering it'll have pretty much no competition for more than a month.

it wasn't very difficult. the first one is beautiful from a visual point of view but the story
The story was better than 95% of all MCU stories and those dont get specifically trashed for weak stories. What did you want Avatar to be about? Do you want an Avatar version of Tár?

DOM: ~700m
China: ~700m
Int: ~800m
Total: ~2200m
If No Way Home can do a $1B overseas without China then so can this...
My prediction:
DOM - $600M
China - $600M
Overseas - $1.2B
$2.4B WW
It has no competition during the holidays.

I think this should cross $2B WW. It has like no competition; it has the holiday season all to itself. No Way Home had more competition last year...

~16.6M OW for Ticket. Not as bad as it could have been but not as good as I hoped.
Can Black Adam do 19M on Sunday?
It was projected to do just $12M so it over performed.

I know people love to sh-t on the Halloween franchise but every movie after the first one is a guilty pleasure fun for me. Even the new one.

Wow higher than Smile's score. Looks like we have another new horror franchise!
