I didn't love it, so you probably won't love it either, since I'm convinced we're the same person...I think I'm going to like this movie.
-
Didn't you love Singing in the Rain? This looks very similar (except it's silent, obviously).I really don't get the appeal of the film. It's going to take a lot of convincing to get me to see this.
-
This one isn't doing that well, though. 5m today means 11.5m-12m for the weekend and 19m for the 4-day. Of course, nothing that isn't MI4 is doing well, but still.Unless the kids movies are Pixar, most people from Mojo seem to despise them. But Alvin is harmless. Kids love it.

Terrible for Holmes. Worse for Tattoo. Okay, MI4's the only movie doing acceptable numbers right now.
-
Actually, no Girl who Played with Fire would be a blessing. Fincher shouldn't spend the next three years doing cruddy Dragon Tattoo sequels. He's at the height of his career.

1. The Dark Knight Rises2. The Hobbit: An Unexpected JourneyThis is where Django Unchained WOULD go...3. The Avengers4. Lincoln5. Prometheus6. Brave7. Gangster Squad8. Argo9. Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie10. John CarterHonorary mentions: Casa de mi Padre, Jeff Who Lives at Home, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, The Five Year Engagement, Moonrise Kingdom, ParaNorman, Frankenweenie, Skyfall, This is Forty, The Great Gatsby (out of morbid curiosity)

...and there goes any chance of Hollywood adapting The Girl Who Played with Fire. 3.4m Wednesday is terrible.

Rewatched this. Still funny.
-
Sounds like he's talking about John Carter. Which makes sense, that Kashmir cover is terrible.
-
Okay, that's pretty underwhelming for Tattoo too. MI4 did well but pretty much everything else faltered (2.3m for Tintin, yikes...). Also, hey there, Muppets didn't die! But Hugo apparently did...
-
Dammit! I'm not excited for MU or even Brave really. But the Dinosaur and Mind movies look like the most interesting Pixar projects since their Ratatouille-WALL-E-Up streak. But yeah, Frozen sounds like Tangled, and Tangled did really well, so good for The Snow Queen, er, Frozen.

Okay, MI4... 6m Wednesday (plus 2m late-Tuesday shows), 7m today, 9.8m Friday, 6m Saturday, 11m Sunday, 15m Monday. 26.8m 3-day, 41.8m 4-day, 56.8m for the 6.5-day frame. And then it does over 10m for each daily next week. That's more than fine. Tattoo... 1.6m late-Tuesday shows, 5.7m Wednesday, 5m today, 7m Friday, 4.3m Saturday, 7.2m Sunday, 8.3m Monday. 18.5m 3-day, 26.8m 4-day, 39.1m for the 6.5 day frame. That's fine. Tintin... 2.8m today, 4m Friday, 2.05m Saturday, 3.5m Sunday, 6.05m Monday. 9.55m 3-day (ugh), 15.6m 4-day, 20.9m for the 6-day frame. That's... a fine mess. It just better catch up next week. Sherlock... 4.75m today, 6.9m Friday, 4m Saturday, 7.6m Sunday, 9.6m Monday. 18.5m 3-day, 28.1m 4-day, 37.15m 6-day. That's okay, it'll be doing Tron Legacy's dailies next week. Alvin... 4.1m today, 5.65m Friday, 2.95m Saturday, 4.9m Sunday, 8.7m Monday. 13.5m 3-day, 22.2m 4-day, 29.8m 6-day. That's still underwhelming, but whatever.

That really just stinks for everything. Shit better pick up by Sunday.
-
It's a nuanced, well-crafted thriller with some stellar performances (Oldman disappears into this role). Maybe a little too calculated. It's certainly confusing as hell. Maybe I should read the book.
-
Sherlock made 5.2m according to THR- http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/girl-with-dragon-tattoo-box-office-opening-275904

I'll say this, too: Fincher, don't waste your time with the sequels. You're at the top of your game. You made a good movie out of a source almost worth your time. Fire and Hornet's Nest are lousy books and lousy Swedish movies. Give them to lesser directors.
-
So 1.7m from IMAX shows before 8PM, and 2m from regular and IMAX shows after 8PM for MI4.
-
Bored to Death.

Good number. I don't even know how widespread awareness was of the 7PM shows.MI4 had 8PM shows last night in most conventional theaters, so I'd expect a big increase today. EDIT: 3.7m, there you go. Another solid number.

Just saw this again. Terrific movie, anchored by an A-list performance from an A-lister and a great screenplay.

Stuff worth seeing that I have yet to see (off the top of my head): Any foreign movie, Take Shelter, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Shame, Tinker Tailor, EL&IC, Tintin, Artist, Dangerous Method, and such. Pretty solid year at the moment, about on par with 2010.

It's a nice story about letting go of your past (warts and all) and moving on, but the movie doesn't come alive until the last half hour or so. Oswalt is the heart of the movie- I even prefer him to Theron- and gives another impressive dramatic performance. But it's easily forgettable. I know Reitman is above this. Cody, I'm not so sure...

Young Adult, 4:20 show, maybe ten people there. Don't remember the trailers. Then- double feature- TGWTDT, 7:00 show, almost sold out the largest auditorium. Ghost Rider 2's trailer got some unintentional laughs, while Expendables 2 even got some applause. Interesting.

This is an impeccably made movie; spooky, atmospheric, and at times captivating. Mara is wonderful, the cinematography and set pieces are stunning, the score is even better than The Social Network's. As a fan of the book, I knew what was coming, but I was pleased at how fresh each take felt- the use of "Sail Away" during the torture scene at the end was terrifying. And for 160 minutes, its pace is terrific.
David Fincher's efforts make Tattoo subtly different from its Swedish counterpart. I'd even say more effective. But there's enough similarity between this and the Swedish one to make me wonder why this movie had to be made beyond the novel's domestic popularity which calls the need for an English adaptation. It almost made me feel like Fincher was above the project, as successful as I'm sure it will be.
As its own film, I'm going with a B+.

9.5m for MI4 is right where it should be and Alvin's relatively looking okay. Otherwise nothing worth writing about. Zoo didn't even make anything. Just take us to next summer, geez
