Trying out a proof of concept. Looking at Missing Link this weekend, comparing Fandango Sales as of end of Monday before release, with some Fandango Sales for Smallfoot and Incredible 2 (not a good comparison but I haven't had a chance to look for better yet) also by the Monday before release. I'm sure both of these will be underestimating because I don't see Missing Link being a particularly popular pre-sale movie. Wow, I didn't know it tracked sets, rather than actual tickets. I was actually using your data to try and extrapolate Fandango first day. Your day 1 to day 3 numbers were 14,975 : 566 a factor of 26.5. If we multiply day 3 Fandango sales (30,292) by 26.5 you get 803k!

Well bugger. I tried doing extrapolations in a few other different ways and got figures in the 700k-800k for the first day Fandango sales. I didn't post because I thought that was way too high!

Very true. But you might expect Atom to be canibilzing the more established online retailers a bit, but yet we are still seeing best ever numbers on those platforms too.

Awesome work! If we use your numbers to estimate an average size of an auditorium and apply that to the sell outs we get an additional 45,371 tickets sold which bumps % sold to 46.2%.

Indeed they should! Thanks for spotting that, edited the post to fix. Makes the factor column a bit more sensible too - kinda what I expected, AIW is massively ahead of AEG, but the factor by which it is ahead each day is reducing.

Updating my Fandango Sales AEG vs AIW table. Added in a factor column and switched to using the numbers from CoolEric258 for AEG so we are all consistent (they were only a few out from what I provided before). I will come back an edit this post in the morning with final day numbers. AIW grew quite a bit over the equivalent next few day. I would be surprised if AEG does the same, but who knows at this point. Today's AEG sales have been crazy, I really wouldn't have expected each days sales to be so strong as I was expecting the initial first day frenzy to have burnt off most of the demand at least until the week before opening. yeah, I compared with some number I had saved on my hard drive for AIW last year when using just the tracker each day. They were pretty close but not exact. I think there is some little bits out due to daily crossover and such, but they are good enough to tell us that AEG is selling gangbusters even compared to AIW.

So if we just use the 'double the first week of sales compared with AIW' from Regal, that means 190k in eight hours, so yep anywhere from 300-400k in the first day and a half.

So on the 2nd Google Doc, start by looking at the 20180423 tab. The last column gives the buy-date. I summed for all the data on a single buy-date for all of the Avengers formats on that tab and on the 20180430, 20180507 and 20180514 tabs. After that nothing seems to have been pre-bought that far out prior to the initial opening.

AIW data I got by using the historical data saved in the google docs from AKVALLEYS tracker here: https://fantasymovieleague.com/chatter/board/fml-main-chatter/topic/462064 Imported the data into Excel and did some SUMIFS on anything Avengers (so includes all formats). Then for AEG, just did the same using the standard AKVALLEY tracker: http://akvalley.pythonanywhere.com/static/Fandango_track.txt I'll try to update with the new AEG numbers each day.

So I used the historical Fandango Tracking data for AIW and am comparing it with AEG day-by-day (based on days till opening). Such a pity we are missing the first day and a half sales for AEG. But even based on the last few days, AEG is selling 3-4 times better than AIW. I find it interesting that AEG dropped out of the top 5 on MovieTickets.com but is still strongly in 2nd on Fandango.
