  2. 61st - Part of Your World - The Little Mermaid 95 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 1 top 10 I don't see how this list that has such wonderful songs... could be bad? I mean... Look at this list, Isn't it neat? Even though it isn't halfway complete wouldn't you think it's the list, the list that has everything? And how bout them trolls? Comedically Bold How many montages can this list hold? Looking at the list so far Yes, it's got everything It's got Disney and Pixar aplenty, Has Marvel and meme songs galore Y'all want Lion King Songs They'll be 20 Yet y'all complain Or bitch and moan Butts all feel sore... Did you wanna see Classic Hollywood Maybe you thought there'd be Astaire Dancing Fiddling around on that, what do you call it? oh, roof Dressing Burlesque you don't get too far Hand Drawn's required for top 10, top 5 Not dancing with some Chimney, what's that word again? Sweep Atop this list You'll find the songs the songs that always capture our love From the 1990s Made by Disney Ruling the world
  3. 62nd - The Bare Necessities - The Jungle Book 94 Points - 1 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 I would put Bill Murray's version here, but I did that joke once already, and it's still not clear yet whether Bill is now a bad person or not. Also, this is like my second favourite song from my favourite Disney film and so it must be present in its original glory. The Jungle Book is such a wonderful animated film from the Golden Age that I honestly wouldn't care if they just produced some half arsed animated sequel where they literally just rehash the soundtrack from the original. I would happily watch that if it ever happened. To be honest, the only thing wrong with this song is that it isn't called The Bear Necessities.
  4. 63rd - Goldfinger - Goldfinger 94 Points - 1 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 Do like 80% of the good Bond themes contain the word, 'gold'? I mean it is classic Connery Bond, so obviously the film is outdated arse, but there is no denying that Shirley Bassey knocked this song out of the park to make it one of those Bond Films where you remember the theme before you remember film (I am looking at you, Skyfall). This song wasn't just a theme, it was a part of the movie in a way that the best Bond themes do better than pretty much anybody else in cinema.
  5. 65th - Staying Alive - Staying Alive 93 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 1 top 10 I suppose if anything John Travolta related from the 70s had to make it, I am glad it is this. John Travolta, as much as I may love him now, him in the 70s and The Sound of Music are a big reason why I decided I hated musicals growing up (it never occurred to me that all the Disney animations I watched while thinking this were also musicals). At least now, I can kind of appreciate the quality of the BeeGees and that has gone some distance to me, at a personal level being okay with this film placing on the list. I think if it had been anything else from 70s Travolta, I may have just gone into a rage.
  6. 66th - We Don't Talk About Bruno - Encanto 93 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 1 top 10 How are we supposed to not talk about Bruno? Like We all yell "Silencio de Bruno"? So, I have not seen Encanto yet as it came out during the Korean Covid megaplosion, but I have heard this song maybe a couple of times in general radio play, so it seems like this is the 2020s version of Let It Go? But obviously at like 5% of the scale at best as to suggest it is even close to the global transcendency of Frozen is... well madness. I head that they got that lady with the wet cat to sing about it at the Oscars though, so that was likely a lovely moment for the kids staying up to watch the song sung live for the first time.
  7. 67th - Mrs. Robinson - The Graduate 92 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 I do promise that something on this list didn't score 92 points. I think after this menagerie of mayhem at 92, there are only a couple more 3 way ties ahead with the rest being two way ties or god forbid films with their own unique scores. Anyhow... Mrs. Robinson, yeah, this is another song that has managed to stay synonymous with its film and even further I feel like Simon and Garfunkel are to an extent now, the dudes that did The Graduate Soundtrack as well as that song about a bridge (possibly Kwai, but that is unsubstantiated).
  8. 68th - See You Again - Furious 7 92 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 Remember when the Furious Series accidentally became like unironically good for like 30 minutes? I have no idea when the moment, from when... from that moment on, when it was the moment... starting then... of the genesis of this song in Furious 7. It is clearly more of a tribute to the actor than the character and as time has gone by I feel that is why it loses prominence on this list. It was a fantastic emotional moment that was surprising effective considering the series. But it isn't really a cinematic moment, it is much more a real life moment captured in the cinematic medium.
  9. 69th - Danger Zone - Top Gun 92 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 1 top 10 This song placement is truly Up Where It Belongs A movie theme that persists when many others are beginning to either fade from short term memory or at least lose their connection to the movie it was a part of (Like, who knew that California Dreaming was ever used in a movie?). It is a high tempo, jet fueled song that matched the vibe of Top Gun tres excellently and the upcoming film is going to have a tough job replicating that aspect of the original in a few weeks time.
  10. I think it is time to blast through a few at once... 70th - May It Be - Lord of the Rings 92 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 1 top 10 This isn't Orinoco Flow, did Enya do more than Orinoco Flow? We're back into the Wacky World of Middle Earth and it bears repeating that personally for me, I stopped the audio for the above song about 10 minutes ago and I already forgot how it goes. But then I am also somebody who went into my screen of Return of the King all ready to see the final epic climax of one of the best trilogies ever and prebook by DVD order for the Extended Editions DVD Trilogy only to find myself somewhere through ending number 6 deciding that I was noping out of this franchise and I have seen nothing LOTR related on screen ever since. So basically, in this one small microcosm and nowhere else, my opinion is perhaps not 100% valid.
  11. 71st - Chaiyya Chaiyya - Dil Se 92 Points - 1 Top 5 Vote, 1 top 10 Indian trains look like fun. One of, if not THE biggest spectacle musical number in Bollywood, this was a epic start to a film that perhaps did not quite live up to the hype generated by this opening song. It's good to listen, the choreography is darn amazing and it's just plain good.
  12. 72nd - Johnny B. Goode - Back to the Future 91 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 The perfect hype song for celebrating persuade your mother to sleep with your dad instead of you. I think growing up I thought that Michael J Fox sang this song. Back to the Future has a pretty cool soundtrack all the way through truth be told and there were a number of decent candidates for this list from the series.
  13. 73rd - I See the Light - Tangled 91 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 1 top 10 The film that will likely be the Great Mouse Detective of the 21st Century. Even though, this may be the number 3 song from Tangled for me, I am happy to see that Tangled is getting some love as it is a pretty underrated animated film and deserves the accolade. It is also a lovely scene that is more than adequately sung.
  14. 74th - People Get Up and Drive Funky Soul - Spiderman 3 90 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 Well time for a true classic now! I suppose this is an iconic example of using a song for a film scene. One may argue that it is memorable for all of the wrong reasons, but also.. it is kind of funny and that was probably the original intention. Either way, at least it wasn't Nickelback eh?
  15. 75th - Springtime for Hitler - The Producers 89 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 A lovely wholesome number. I probably should watch this at some point. It does feel like it is a "They couldn't make this these days" type film. This is also the second Mel Brooks film to feature on the list and that may make him among a small number of directors to get into the top 100 with multiple films.
  16. 76th - Purple Rain - Purple Rain 89 Points - 1 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 If the world was pure, then Chocolate Rain would next. Prince was not bad at the old music stuff was he? I can't really say a lot about this because although i have heard the film many times, the film... it's about volcanoes? Aliens? What causes rain to turn purple?
  17. 77th - Make 'Em Laugh - Singing in the Rain 89 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 1 top 10 This film is now 70 years old! I feel like this song has been recreated by Shady Simpsons characters over and over again. It is true classic musical fayre and as such is the opposite of what I ever want to watch. Singing in the Rain is a classic Hollywood musical that seems to survive the test of time on these lists while others fall into oblivion.
  18. 78th - Everything is Awesome - The Lego Movie 87 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 Will this be the only Lonely Island entry on this countdown? Who knows? Along with Inside Out, this was the film that was biggest to blame when it came to a brief period of thinking that there was a chance for the Emoji Movie to not be terrible (this is pre-trailers I must add). Inside Out showed that there were concepts that that film could use to make something better than terrible, and Lego Movie taught us not to assume the worst of apparent shameless brand cash ins. Lego Movie was awesome, my optimistic, let's just wait and see because you never know, the Lego Movie was great, attitude that i had for a few years after... led to much pain.
  19. 79th - Under the Sea - The Little Mermaid 87 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 The only Disney musical number that is able to maintain some of its lines for the Porn Parody. The Second best song in The Renaissance's 5th or 6th best film, and as such I welcome our new Jamaican Lobster overlords. Now I just need to wait and see whether the general audience also adheres to the grand truth that there is a better Little Mermaid song out there.
  20. Sorry for the delay, This week or so has been busy... So I am going to try and fly through a bunch... or at least like 3 80th - Uncle Fucker - South Park: Bigger, Looonger, and Unc.... 85 Points - 1 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 I am not allowed to watch this video because Korea does not think I am 19, but I assume it is the song. And that is more Parker and Stone. This is a thing that makes me happy. Especially as that now makes South Park the most represented film in the countdown. Huzzah,
  21. 81st - Another Day of Sun - La La Land 85 Points - 0 Top 5 Vote, 0 top 10 Is it only me that feels that this would just make being stuck in traffic worse? Remember when movie musicals were all about this and Greatest Showman. What a year that was. This song is fine in my opinion, and if it had been in a better musical, that may have helped it more, but sadly it was in La La Land.
