  1.

I'm chuckling at the fact that the Marvelites on the board are having epic meltdowns after they spent the last year just bringing up how much AOU was going to own the summer in literally every single thread.

I haven't seen any meltdowns from Marvel fans about JW breaking the record.

In fact... most the talk I've seen about it is from people trying provoke a reaction.

  2. We tend to see any movie we like at least twice these days.  This year we've seen AOU, Tomorrowland and Cindy twice.  We'll see JW and IO a 2nd time.

We saw Avengers a lot... 4-6 times but some of them were because of double/triple features with other marvel films.

Since we do Disney Cruises almost every year the last few years I've seen a ton of Disney movies multiple times.

The record is Frozen which I've seen an unbelievable number of times.

  3. Posts like this are only proving my point. I get that anything above $130M is fantastic. That's exactly what my point is. I should be astounded by this being higher than AOU. But so many people jumped on the stinkin' OW record/$215+ million hype train these last few hours that it makes the Deadline report a tad disappointing.

Yes, I get it. So many people are saying to me JW has already won. It most definitely has. I'm not saying it hasn't. Not even close. It's won and then some. But that only strengthens my point that hype trains really screw with perception.

But the ride is what makes these forums so much fun.

If the early tracking or even the early daily projections were always accurate there would be no reason to hang around the forums all night waiting for more accurate estimates.

Instead we get 3-4 nights a year were it's really exciting because we don't really know what the final result is going to be.

The ups and downs and differing projections from different sources bring the boxoffice to life to us that have no real stake in the final results.

  4. JW is way too scary for families, I think

Depends on what you mean by families.  10 and up... not really.

    However...

after watching the 1st 3 this week I was a little surprised how many random people got eaten in this one.

But now that I have a kid I realize its not really people getting killed that can bother younger kids but intense moments when something bad might happen to kids or parents that bother them.

In the original the kids being abandoned in the car is one of those moments.

A couple of moments in JW but no worst then the 1st.
