  1. It's going to be tough. But late legs for it could be solid enough.

    Being conservative...

    Wd 2.6M (-20%)

    Th 2.6M (0%)

    Fr 3.9M (50%)

    St 4.7M (20%)

    Sn 3.8M (-20%)

    239.6M after a 12.4M. It needs 60M

    After a 12M, TS3 did +50M

    After a 13M, Up did +43M

    After a 10M, Wall-E did +40M

    After a 10.9M, Ratatouille did +41M

    After 11M, Nemo did +64M

    After 10.7M, Cars did +39M

    After 11.2M, Brave did +41M

280M / 290M is pretty much assured. And if it gets nice bumps over the next few days, who knows... Let's pray for a +14M weekend...

  2. WWZ possibly finishing with 200 M is just incredible.

It'd have to have a 35-40% drop this weekend and next to do that... but it's possible: I think 192-197 is a more reasonable range IMO. Still a ton more than the 65-70 million I expected it to earn TOTAL!

  3. Well QT doesnt have a wide range that's true. But, not every one can be Spielberg. QT does the best in what he does, and that's enough. Nolan doesnt have a wide range but he also does the best in what he does. It's enough to make him standing on top of the food chain.

Well all I'm saying is that the same act over and over gets stale - Woody Allen used to be a fairly big director, but nowadays his films are mostly so-so, except the excellent Midnight in Paris: a real gem!I'd love to see Christopher Nolan branch out too - try comedy, animation, horror, biopic, war, even a musical if he was up for it.It'd be nice to see QT do something out of the ordinary without violence - shake things up a bit
  4. the reason kid's movies shouldn't use 'sexy and you know it' isn't because their precious little minds can't handle hearing the word sex...it's because it's stupid and about as funny as being forced to eat your own daughter alive.

Why should a movie targeting an age group of 3 to 8 have "sexy" in it? The old Disney films didn't see a need to, same with Pixar and Illumination. Is it that bad to think kids movies should be innocent? And I do think the song is terrible - I'd rather they just write original songs. It's more marketable IMO. Plus, there's already few enough G rated movies nowadays as it is. Doesn't help that anything starring humans in danger gets a PG by default lol.
  5. No... just no. Seeing Samuel L. Jackson in a PG rated movie will be just... no.

He's been in the Star Wars prequels, The Incredibles, and Turbo... I don't see what's wrong with G or PG movies. All of the old classics from the 30s to mid 60s are G & PG level. And I did said Quentin lol - even Tim Burton has made a family film while Mr. David Lynch shocked the cinema world by directing a G rated movie. It would help him stretch his creative juices if he did something like this.
  6. I don't think I've seen a kids movie that's actually had the song. I found it pretty amusing that the scene it was advertised with for Madagascar 3 ended up using Enya instead.

Hotel Transylvania used it 2 or 3 times I believe. Either way, kids movies don't need that kind of music in their advertising - its a PG-13 song IMO. Why not just make a great trailer like Toy Story 3, Despicable Me 2's teaser, and Frozen? Or a great movie with original songs?

  7. These lists are a good guide for great films.I remember when I was 14 I thought stuff like Spiderman and x2 were the greatest films. Then I went down the imbd list and I was amazed...

Yep! Don't forget Shrek 1 & 2 lol! But I'd say Spider-Man 2 and X2 are still pretty great but they pale next to the classicsI'm pretty sure Mullholland Drive was on the list at some point. I thought RoboCop, Gremlins, and Goonies would be on here. Same with most of the Pixar films and arguably the 1st Shrek.I think some of the films on the list are simply there because they're old - a lot of them aren't even all time classics. Although since The Muppet Movie is on there, I can forgive omissions lol
  8. Kids movies with "I'm Sexy and I Know It" in their soundtrack - remember when G rated songs played in kids movies: original ones too!!I also hate most potty humor (Despicable Me is a clever exception lol), cuss words that don't need to be there, shaky cam, pop culture references, and hollow plots. And when the villain's plan was to get captured lol.But the Inception music is funny so I say keep it haha.

  9. My Top 10 (Hopefully as a complimentary piece to my FYC seeing as most of you guys don't seem to have seen, or sometimes even heard about, these movies):

    1. All Quiet on the Western Front

    2. Citizen Kane

    3. North by Northwest

    4. Napoleon (1927)

    5. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2012)

    6. Rear Window

    7. Casablanca

    8. Sunset Boulevard

    9. La Regle du Jeu (The Rules of the Game)

    10. Gone with the Wind

I've heard of all of them except 1 (Napoleon) but I've seen 3 of them. That's a strong top 10 though!
  10. I agree we need a Best Voice Acting category but if that doesn't exist, then no way was she snubbed

Agreed! Motion capture and voice acting should have some recognition - but there are some that transcend this and should be able to compete in the Acting categories... Ellen DeGeneries as Dory, Robin Williams as the Genie, Andy Serkis in LOTR: Two Towers and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Zoe Saldana in Avatar.

They all were definitely Oscar caliber performances - they made you think they were the character. It takes a great deal of talent to do that!
